Load of UAF/SWP ran down Westgate road to go & see EDL who are meeting/drinking around central station police stopped them, EDL then come charging out the pubs flag waving.Police lines stopped any serious clashes. Going to be some chew the day. Police have got huge numbers in town.

UAF & EDL marches dont start till 2pm so it could be a long day.

was having a conversation with an EDL supporter in the pub last night, and managed to blow all his ideals out the watta in about five minutes. Thick charver idiots, one and all.

Apart from that early morning skirmish I saw nowt else happen. Police were well organised & had the numbers on the streets & plenty of back up in vans & buses.

Have herd from v.reliable sources a group of 30 Asian lads were walking down Westgate rd very early on Saturday morning wanting to play golf they got through a few police lines on Westgate road until 1 copper had the stones to stop them

On a Facebook the Admins of EDL Newcastle have sent a message to its members kicking off about the small numbers from locals divisons. Looking at various footage it seems my home turf of Wallsend sent large numbers/loads of lads wearing EDL merchandise with "WALLSEND DIVISION" on. I think that is what may have pissed off the so called larger EDL Newcastle division.

Elsewhere on NorthEast AgainstRacism a few members are having pop a the UAF for " putting out propaganda claiming they are the only anti-fascist organisation worth joining", "got a message from UAF claiming to have been the ONLY anti fascist group there. They do this at EVERY mobilisation", "their competitve sectarianism is sickening and demeaning to what we are all fighting together for. Many organisations including NEAR are more than willing to work with UAF but they wont work with anyone unlkess they can dominate them and be in charge." & "bennet is salaried and has to justify his wages and thats how he does it."
