Are you not on Martin Lewis weekly email!!!! Layout is shit, colours are poor. Advice & saving are top fucking draw http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ I will be on this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/tesco-clubcard-points-deals
I cant even get a 500 quid overdraft any more, let alone a loan. My previous overdraft limit was 4600 quid which i completely cleared a few years back. With loans i was borrowing and paying off up to 15 grand really easily. Absolutely crazy, considering my job and the amount of money going in and out of the account each month. Still, its all done on credit scoring, and according to creditexpert i have officially 'poor' credit -because i've been on the electoral role for only 18 months, and had no previous record of clearing any debt at my current address. Its quite silly considering the place i lived at previously (for 6 months) saw me paying off student loans early, overdrafts, personal loans early etc etc. ... All of this with the state owned bank, Natwest. Hardly the peoples bank eh. On the flip side, its probably stopped me buying things i shouldnt (cars).
Do they not look at your previous address if you've only been in your current one for less than 3yrs? I'm not looking forward to coming back to England and getting a mortgage. My credit rating will be completely shot to shit from uni days, and any good credit history i have is based here in luxembourg.
Yeah even after putting all that stuff in, whatever experian or creditexpert have on file just results in a 'computer says no' result. I missed some mobile phone bill payments about 6 years ago (like 3 months worth, and paid them the next month), and thats now a black mark on my record. If i had quit my contract with the phone company back then they would have been totally wiped by now, but sticking with the same provider means i have to wait SIX years after finally cancelling with them before that comes off. Its canny stupid the way it works ... for me at least
they use experiea, iv just had problems cos its two weeks behind and was out of date. i said laise with the card company those details and now wrong, they cant tho cos of data protection so basicly you get credit based on what a third party out of date database says. Not ideal
I am a member of Experian (not a free one either) I have found the information on there brilliant. When I did a credit card transfer to to my old credit card I was left with a CR balance which I never knew about, got the money & just as important closed the account, as having open accounts even if never used can count as already in place access to credit. Next thing I did was checked all the accounts & found 1 was showing a late/none payment for 1 month. I contacted Experian & explained how can this be classed as a fault against me when the company refunded me late fees because they failed to set up the direct debit. Experian contacted the company involved, I got a letter from that company agreeing with me & my file has been amended. I have a rating in the high end of Good by the year end it should/will be in the Excellent (top) category as I clear the decks. Martin Lewis & Experian have been really worthwhile reading for me.
You get 30 days free, it is a few quid. If you cancel on day 29 they wont take any cash. You get to see your file. You can see the reason why you may not get cash/credit. You can contact them & through them challange anything that what you think is wrong & they will contact the compaines for you. You could read the info & quit as there is no contract.
