You'd be surprised mate, its booked up weeks in advance quite often, must be doing something right if they only need to open one day a week!

thats about it lol think the novelty of only being open one day a week attracts a lot of people. its in the middle of nowhere as well so its not like you can just pop in

does being out in the middle of nowhere keep the scum out?

i stopped going out for sunday lunch years ago cos it gets full of lower class peasants.

I wont queue in doorways with stuttering morons no matter how nice the food is.

now that I dont know, its been a long time since I've been! I would imagine it will help a bit though. You need to be able to afford a car to get there for a start

its hardly in the middle of nowhere, it's only just past corbridge.

does the tone inn do decent ales though? i've never been and still can't decide whether it's worth the trip after the boatside in warden.

(stephen might be a canny authority on this).

lol I'm well aware of where it is, I've lived just north of Corbridge most of my life. Its about 20 minutes away, and being about halfway between Colwell/Barrasford park and Ridsdale I'd say it qualified as being fairly remote (although it is easy to find as its literally on the roadside)

i don't like the boatside but i do frequent it on occasion as i have friends in newbrough..

i don't know for certain about good real ales in the tone but my guess would be that the answer is no due to the short shelf life of real ales and the fact it's only open once a week.. it is worth it for the food though..

Allie, you need to get yourself to The Feathers at Hedley On The Hill, it's amazing. They have all the local ales too.
