The original resident of Sleaze, which was first to bring artists such as Ivan Smagghe, Tiefshwarz, FC Kahuna and Ladytron to Leeds. The weekly party at Dave Beer's ‘Rehab club’ also boasted James Lavelle as monthly resident. He has produced with other sleaze resident Simon Baker under the moniker “The Liptrick”, their self titled release was picked up by Ralph Lawson for his 2020 Vision Label, featuring on many compilations, including Groove Armada’s ‘doin it after dark 2’ and Dan Ghenacia’s Families mix. Further remixes and a release on Simon’s own ‘Infant Records’ followed later. Alex has also played many times as resident for the club night Asylum, based in Leeds. The eclectic party has seen him warming up and playing along side some true pioneers of underground dance music as well as some more established names, such as Idjut Boys, Timo Maas, Alexander Robotnik, DJ T, Ewan Pearson, Chloe, Steve Lawler, Danny Krivit and even Jazzy Jeff! In 2008 Alex started his own night "Insects" which has seen the likes of Efdemin, Dave DK and Battant (Kill the DJ) grace the decks. He hopes to put more of these nights on once a suitable venue is procured. Alex is currently signed to Suruba Records (Madrid) and has released 2 ep's for them already, with the third ("Quartz Block EP") due out 25/11/2009. In March 2009 he remixed Spektre feat Chelonis R Jones, the NYC born vocalist on the record is widely known for his work with the label Get Physical and the band Röyksopp. Alex's releases with Suruba have gained him praise and accolades from a wide range of dj's from Laurant Garnier to Silicon Soul. He has also recently remixed Ripperton & Minz' new track "Crack" which will be out on Vinyl and digital, complete with a Julien Chaptal remix, before Christmas 2009." ******************************************************************** ******************************************************************** SI QUICK Selected Biography It was at University, armed with a nice present from the government in the shape of a student loan, that Si bought his first set of turntables and a load of Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden remixes and Chicago house records. Not having a clue what to do and no mentor, he quickly mastered the art of "banging it in during the break down". Unfortunately none of the metal fans / 40 year old Nigerians in his halls of residence were really into this. So, when he left Uni he started hanging around with more like-minded souls who were into the underground house sounds of Derrick Carter, Sasha, Tenaglia and Digweed. Over the next few years, Si was given opportunities to take his skills out of bedroom, gaining a residency at Habit and making appearances at the Ministry of Sound and Public Life in London. With the continued rise of the Internet, Si has been able to increase the scope of music he listens to and this has brought him to his current position of digging everything from deep house to techno to disco. His residency at Habit has seen him play alongside personal heroes such as James Holden and Tom Middleton. ********************************************************************
