The Newcastle clubbing scene : 2009

Aye its only November but do you reckon it has been a success so far in 2009?

I think it has personally considering what the country has been through this year, fair enough numbers have been down on previous years but you can't fault the bookings and some of the ideas from promoters.... One thing I will say is though, the city needs another proper venue!

it does - however it's a bit risky to create another venue with the numbers being lower than usual.

I rekon clubbing this years been great from the very start, its nice to see big names are flowing back into town yet again!

Sounds like Legends is going some way to filling the "another venue" gap.

Despite the way things are with the economy, I think this year's been a success in town like.

Completely agree Newcastle's in dire need of a couple more decent venues :(

I'd say from September 08 to September this year it was pretty shit but since September it's really improved, everyone seems to have picked up their game and most weekends there's actually a choice.

Seems canny good to me, although im only there once every few months.

I think there should be a bit more overlap with nights tho - its there any need for people to collectively bankrupt themselves trying to do everything at once, for no money anyways.

This year has been pretty surprising, considering how many nights disappeared last year/start of this year. Digital seems to be just scraping by without Shindig, while Legends and hopefully the Cut will fill the much needed new venue crack. The Tyne has been the venue of the year for me like, and the parties there seemed to give everything a kick up the arse and got everyone to get right into it again.

I'm suprised Melt hasn't been on here spouting his usual bollocks about being the best promoter in Newcastle and saving the scene.

got to stick up for melt for once here - he has put on 'some' real amazing partys over the years , just his online pater lets him down and love for harddance, but remove that and he's has good ideas compared to alot around at the mo trying to doon the 'rave' image.

i dont think the clubbing scence has got shite , its the uppers that have, they run hand in hand , if one is bad ( e ) then the other suffers ( the partys)

Tbh i agree, his online persona sometimes boils peoples piss, but he's always been a top bloke when i've met him and he's always went out his way to do something different and interesting with his nights.
