iPhone vs Blackberry Going phone shopping this weekend & really torn between the 2. I've briefly tested a few different Blackberry models in store & know a few mates that are iPhone users, just cant seem to weigh them both up to actually make a decision. Anyone use either models that can give 1st hand Pro's/Con’s ?
I have a Blackberry Curve and the only problem I have with it is that the camera is shite. Everything else is great mate.
I know it may come across as a bit biased coming from an iPhone owner, but for me it's far better than any of the Blackberry models available. I pondered over them both when I was due a new phone, but the general user frendliness and depth of the applications made the iPhone appear as a much better purchase. The size of the screen was a big plus point for me as I wanted to use the phone mainly for browsing. I suppose how you use your phone depends on which one is best. Personally I think the iPhone is a lot more 'fun', i.e. colourful, more games and daft apps, bigger screen for watching videos and browsing; whereas the Blackberrys are a lot more business orientated with the whole push email thing, Blackberry pin, aesthetics of the phone. The Blackberry is also a cheaper option of course!
iphones ment 2 b comin on orange in a few weeks time like! think my contract dont run oot till next yr but gonna try and push 4 an upgrade lol
Only thing I've not liked about the iPhone is the battery life - mine needs charging every two days or so (but in fairness it does get hammered). If you're planning on an iPhone hang on until the new year - Orange introducing it may lead to a fall in prices
I wouldn't dare get another phone on Orange. They insist on loading nearly every phone with their own shitty software, which is why they crash ALL of the time.
Nice 1 lads Everyone that has the iPhone loves it, however the Blackberry just seems that little bit more robust. Suppose the contract is another major factor as to why I aint jumped on the iPhone yet, but cant possible wait until December until the other Networks roll it out with more competitive tariffs, this phone is on it's last legs now
have a lok at the htc hero, ive got a blackberry storm, theyre quite good but tbh an iphone is probably better like.
iphone. The blackberry is more of a business phone tbh. Alot of companies use them as company mobiles. The iphone is alot more user friendly and better for general use. They're pretty tough aswell, ive dropped mine loads of times and it hasnt got a mark on it. The battery life does go quickly but thats probably because I use the 3G alot.
I sell both into businesses regularly and see loads of problems on iPhones and none on Blackberry at all (unless dropped hard enough/coffee spilled on etc). Another problem you have with iPhones is if the battery fucks or wears out over time (all do), they aren't modular and you can't just 'nip up the shop and buy a new battery' like you can in a Blackberry. It is also far quicker and easier to write texts out and the software is quicker when clicking through menus, on a Blackberry. I recommend the Blackberry Curve 8900, Blackberry Bold 9000 and the new Blackberry bold 9700 but NOT the Blackberry Storm which is horrid as it is touch screen, again slow to write texts on, and you have to click the screen in every time you type or press a button. Whatever Apple comes out with next I think will be great, especially if they give it an optional slide out keyboard or something. They havent been in the mobile market as long and I do think they're doing really well considering. Proudy do you need E-mails on the move? Do you need your calendar? (if so BB is way forward) Or do you mainly want it for internet browsing? (if so you may wish to still consider the iPhone as that at the moment is the best of the two for browsing)
Yeh im after emails/calender funstion on the go, I would the added features like FB, Myspace etc... but emails are primary. The layout of the apps on the iPhone look a lot more solid than the Blackberry but if the software is quicker on the Blackberry then I reckon thats also gunna sway me... not to mention the huge difference in price for what id need to cover my usage. The Bold 9000 looks decent enough too.
Hasn't the Bold 9000 been discontinued? I'm pretty sure the new Blackberry will cost just as much as an iphone anyway.
Nah just been into the O2 shop there in Eldon Square. To get the iPhone for free & cover my monthly usage (closest tarrif would be 1200mins/500txt) im looking at a 24 month contract at £45 per month. I can get the Bold for free on a 18 month deal with 1200mins/1000txt & unlimited free O2-to-O2 calls for £34 per month.
Bold 9000 has 3G and a big screen 8900 has a smaller screen and is only 2G, still fast enough but not near broadband speeds like the Bold.
