    Its about time like.

Pioneer are so far behind on this front that Denon have already released and discontinued their player which does similar things, and they're now rumoured to be developing a new model capable of much more...

CDJ-type players with MIDI/USB on them are the way forward. Those who want to use CDs (or USB pens) can. Those who prefer laptops can still use them to play their tracks through. I'd imagine the onboard sound on these is far better than some of the USB soundcards I've used in the past.

Look forward to seeing the finished article

Its a shame Denon havent made more headway in the market. All i use these days is my DN-HS5500 and apart from a few bugs they SHOULD have fixed (before it was discontinued) it was a MASSIVE jump forward 'hardware' based DJ'ing i thought.

How many other units can take CD's a Hard Drive, a usb stick, a keyboard (!) and act as both a midi device AND soundcard as well as being TWO decks at the same time?

I'd like to see this marry the concepts of digital dj'ing with the reliability of hardware stuff - I mean whats to stop them making a unit with some kind of 'embedded' traktor or whatnot .... makes sense.

Cant wait till they announce it next month!

I dunno what the point of using these 'through' a pc would be if all the pc is doing is providing the music files. Something you could do off a usb stick or hard drive/cd.

Hopefully it will do both, although the only thing i like about pure digital dj'ing is the warping/beatgrid which allows you to do something ELSE once you dont have to worry about the whole loading/beatmatching aspect to things.

Pressing buttons and having a turntable/jog wheel still feels much nicer than having a screen and mouse

you just answered your own question boyo.

cdjs are really nice to use :) and if your not having to burn cds, even more of a bonus :)

just burn what you really like then take them to play. i've burned some terrible tracks in hindsight, i like to hear them on my full soundsystem rather the pc sometimes.

Yep all true - although with the prices pioneer charge its a mighty expensive way of getting to push buttons eh!

I'll probably be buying one none the less - whatever it turns out to be i bet its good :)

theres a consensus that pic is a fake. Elapsed is spelled incorrectly, could be an oversite but the original image came from something called Slutkoncept.

Too much imo... when i went from vinyl to cdjs i thought that was to much, but i don't really see the need for all these extras. Don't get me wrong it is nice & it's a change, but i'd much rather stick to the 1000s :)
