Transfusion DJ competition We are currently considering mixes for a live DJ competition held at our opening night at The Attic in Newcastle. To enter, compile and upload a 30 minute mix and send the link to Transfusion@live.co.uk along with your contact details and background information about yourself. All mix entries must be trance or progressive and must be submitted by 21st of September. The 3 best DJs will be selected by ourselves and will go through to the final. The final will be held in the Unearthed records room and the 3 finalists will go head to head each given a time limit of 30 minutes. The live competition will be refereed by a panel of judges including ourselves and the owners of Unearthed records. Points will be awarded for track selection, technical ability and crowd interaction. The overall winner will get a secured slot at the 2nd night along with the chance to play alongside some of the worlds best DJ's! Note: Finalists will be asked to make their own way to the competition and travel costs will not be paid for.
What exactly is the scoring system going to be? Will all DJ's be advised on this prior to the competition, to ensure they know exactly how they are being scored and can see clearly how they are ranking against the other competitors?
I suggest you read the thread on here about the Eliminate DJ comp from last month (in Going Out I think), some good points in that about how to overcome the things that went wrong on the night I cant even mix gravy so I wont be entering like
Thanks for the heads up man, appreciate it . To avoid people making the assumption the competition is fixed, we will actually record all 3 sets aswell as judging how the contestants read the crowd there and then. The Judges will include myself and the 5 other promoters in Transfusion and also Unearthed Records (Chris Turner, and possibly Luke Terry so long as his main room set doesn't clash with the competition.) We will upload the 3 sets so people can see we are making a fair decision aswell as voting and sharing your thoughts on the competition/competitors. A secured slot will mean a full hour set in the 2nd room at the following event. 2nd room may not be amazing but it is somewhere for ameteurs to start. Cheers
I'm shit at mixing gravy aswell. Even bisto. I remember once i went home after a 2 day session still off my breasts and there was a family meal, full on get together and i had to act straight up to set a good example, as you do Well i got the job of mixing the gravy and what a poor job i done had to pour it over the relatives dinners and fuck me i've never seen so many lumps of shite in all my life sufice to say that was the last family dinner i got involved in.
