For the last few years Bass Generator sets have usually been 100% Hardstyle, only playing OldSkool on special occasions at 100% OldSkool nights, rave re-unions etc.
Yes Bass Generator's name goes synonymous with Hardcore and Rave from the 90's but Bass Generator had Dj'd professionally since 1987 where he played Acid house+Techno, converting to the rave scene in 1991 as it was the more popular genre.
When the UK rave scene died a death in 2000 he didn't Dj much as there were few events catering for that kind of music.
Another re-invention into a Trance Dj was discussed but decided against in favor of semi-retirement, marriage, kids etc.
The Hardcore scene in Scotland re-started in 2003 with mainly OldSkool events playing a little bit of the new UK Hardcore sound and some of the heavier Dutch Hardcore but these genres were not grabbing the amount of interest necessary to fully regenerate a scene.
Something new was needed.
Hardstyle has arguably been around for 8-9 years but at 150bpm compared to 170-180bpm Hardcore it was never going to break into the Hardcore circuit but stay at the harder edge of the Hard Dance/Hard House/Trance scene.
In 2007 Bass Generator made the decision to stop playing Hardcore (in all it's sub-genres) and convert to playing Hardstyle 100%, the tunes had started to become more mainstream and therefore commercially acceptable to a wider audience, especially the Italian releases.
At midnight at the 2007 Fantasylands Winter Festival Bass Generator put his dj'ing future on the line and played a 100% Hardstyle dj set to over 10000 ravers.
To say it went down a storm is an understatement.
The set blew the place apart and introduced the Hardstyle sound to a whole new audience.
CD sales of the set were 50 times more than previous ones and it was downloaded over 1000 times within 2 weeks.
Now Hardstyle is rapidly becoming the biggest genre in the Scottish Hardcore scene.
Ravers are now going to the Hard Dance/Trance events that have Hardstyle artists playing opening up a whole new sound to those who wouldn't normally go to those events.

Bass Generator is re-launching his label in 2009 along side new label "Hardstyle United" to release new tracks on vinyl and mp3 download.

Love the stuff Bass Generator is playing at the moment, & A+D+A+M LAB4 will be doing a 2hr set. Can't wait!!!!

Bass Generator will be closing the night, really enjoyed his set at Distorted recently. Last Vice was mint, really looking forward to this month.

Ah man Id love to but its me apprentices birthday night round town and I said Id meet the troups for a few! Id just kick them into touch but he'd probably cry if I didnt turn up. Next time tho for sure!
