The plus side for punters is that every shindig will now have an immense lineup

To be fair who can argue with their lineup's recently anyway. They've had some unreal lineups over the years and have put on some blinders so far this year too.

few couple of months have been stellar lineups - just not enough to fill the atmosphere-less Digital

Was shocked to hear about this. It might not have been my fave night but it's done loads for the scene not only in Newcastle but all over the place. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you do!

Corporate dominated clubbing was never really cool anyways ;)

Theres better margins to be made in venues that are desparate to make money off the tills, and would probably give you the venue for next to nothing.

I went last night to see lawler. I wasn't expecting to get in (I finished DJing at half twelve and drove down) and was expecting it to be packed, with one in, one out. I got there for 1am, to find 600 people in and digital absolutely dead. The dancefloor area was busy but everywhere else was empty.

To be honest I enjoyed it a lot more as it wasn't "sardines in a tin" packed, you could walk up to the bar and get served within 2 minutes, and the people in the club seemed up for it with noone causing any bother.

Lawler's set was spot on, lots of deep house, lots of mint tunes, and it was good to see he was enjoying himself and making the effort (even given the lack of numbers). Was speaking to Scott outside and he said that it's been like this all year and there's only been 3 occasions where there's been 1000+ through the door.

This time of year it's to be expected with the students heading home and people saving up for their hols, but I think the fact it's been like this all year probably speaks volumes about the economic climate we find ourselves in. I know a fair few people on here have joked about previous cancellations of events being blamed on the credit crunch (myself included), but maybe we've underestimated how big an effect it has in this case :(

I was practicly raised in shindig standing watching the DJ's in Foundation and looking back at some of the best nights in my life and met so many friends through it. It is a shame to see it leave as well this was the heart beat of newcastle clubbing. But good luck to the boys i have a sneeky feeling they will blow us away once again with there upcoming events!..................Thanks for the memories lads i am eternaly gratefull!!

Noticed this late last night, am gutted to say the least and will be greatly missed from Digital's weekly events.

Have attended Shindig more frequently in the last year or so and have never had a bad word to say about it.....good people, quality atmosphere, sound music and an overwhelming variety of only the best dj's.

If ever wheeling the bars on a Saturday and short of a clubbing experience, you could always rely on Shindig to deliver the goods, unfortunately the lack of numbers and high cost of dj's means sustainability is impossible and the outcome was inevitable.

Am sure with the experience of Scott, Scooby and the other Shindig boys, it won’t be long till you guys are reeling the punters in again, especially when times are better as everyone has felt the pinch of this almighty credit crunch where battling at the moment.

Wish you guys the best of luck in your new journey and am sure it was Cheryl Crow who said that change was good!

What a gutter!!! The end of the weekly Shindig. It was great that it kept going when other clubs nights gave up weekly nights & went monthly/Ibiza/arena/festival/bankrupt/event when fresh coke money was needed.

It would of been good if those 2 bedroom DJs were playing 17 years of Shindig tunes at the last weekly event.

    No Premier league football.
    No Shindig.
    Weekends are looking bleak.

This city had a good run.
