    When you buy online...

The "contract" isnt finalised until the delivery of the item is it?

So if i refuse to sign for something that was ordered by mistake (opps) it will be returned to sender with me not having to pay for P&P innit?

    Is this the case?

Am not sure but i also think you have a cooling off period of 7 or 14 days where you can change your mind and return the item unopened for distance buying on the internet.

you might have to pay P&P fees, depends who it is - sometimes they call it 'return to sender' costs.

i ordered something online from dabs, soon as i clicked finished i knew i'd ordered the wrong thing. problem is the whole thing is automated - i couldn't cancel the order, stop it - nothing even though the order hadn't even been picked yet. all i could do was put a 'return to sender' on the order so it went out with the truck then came back to the warehouse - i was still charged the P&P fee. what a chump

IIRC (it's been a while since I studied contract law  ) the contract is made when you get an acknowledgement/confirmation email, but there is a cooling off period allowing you to cancel. I think the relevant law is the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, not sure though.

Not sure where you stand on P&P fees though.

If you cancel the order before you receive the item you are entitled to a full refund, including delivery charges. If you refuse delivery without cancelling you will have broken the contract. If you want to return the received order during the seven day cooling period the costs of return depend upon the contract you agreed to when placing the order. I think...
