Turbulence :: Dillinja, Chase & Status, Skream & Mc Id @ Digital - Fri 30th January TURBULENCE – DILLINJA, CHASE & STATUS, SKREAM, MC ID, PHOBIA & MORE. FRIDAY 30TH JANUARY 2009 @ DIGITAL As we move into the New Year, our next event is on FRIDAY 30TH JANUARY 2009 and we welcome DILLINJA, CHASE & STATUS, SKREAM, MC ID, PHOBIA & SWITCH MC for the first show of the year! First up we have DILLINJA, truly one of the pioneers of drum and bass and largely responsible for the modern sound of DnB. Dillinja has churned out so many classic tunes over the past ten years we simply haven’t got space to list them. He is also a prolific remixer and has been commissioned by David Bowie, Bjork, Faith No More, Soul II Soul and Basement Jaxx to give their tracks the trademark Dillinja sound. As a DJ he has played everywhere from Brazil to London to Japan and back – playing on Digital’s superb Funktion One sound system he will no doubt show us all why he’s called The Bass Destroyer… CHASE & STATUS broke onto the scene in 2005 with some of the year’s biggest tunes including the massive ‘Duppy Man’, ‘Loves Theme’, ‘Zulu King’ and many more. Releasing on Breakbeat Kaos, Bingo, BC Presents & Renegade Hardware they are now signed exclusively to Andy C’s Ram Records and having already unleashed ‘Hurt U’ and ‘Dumpling Riddim’ onto an unsuspecting public as well as remixing Dizzee Rascal along the way in 2007! In 2008, they released their debut album ‘More Than Alot’ to critical acclaim and remixed a track for The Prodigy – come and see what all the fuss is about! Hailing from the south coast MC ID is carving his own unique mark on the scene. With residencies at Renegade Hardware, Hospitality & Shogun Audio, and also the front man for Ninja Tunes Qemists, ID has shown that he's one of the most versatile up and coming MC's around at the moment. Resident support comes in the form of PHOBIA & SWITCH MC. In room two, we thought it was time we welcomed Heavyweight back to Turbulence and we’ve managed to secure the golden boy of Dubstep to go with them, SKREAM. Having helped set the genre on fire alongside stalwarts like Benga & Coki with a slur of brilliant releases across the scene’s biggest and best labels, most notably Tempa Recordings. His ‘Midnight Request Line’ tune has gone on to become the biggest dubstep anthem since its inception. Following that up with his eponymous album in and 5 volumes of the infamous Skreamism series Skream has cemented himself at the top of the dubstep hierarchy and by the looks of it won’t be coming down anytime soon. Support comes from DYNAMIX, NIRZ & HADOSHROOMand AEMS. BUY TICKETS Tickets are £10adv + BF available from Beatdown Records & RPM in Newcastle.
