Skydiving I have become inspired after seeing a mates pictures on facebook from doing one in Oz, My aim is to hopefully do one to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation. I was wondering if anybody had done one before or has any info on how to go about it. I am gona do a bit ringing around once the manager leaves work, so any info would be great.
i was set to do one years ago but was talked out of it by family - which is odd as my aunt and uncle are instructors  you can only do static line or tandem now for your first jump, which puts me off a bit i used to go up to brunton airfield a lot, but i think its closed down now and its all done at peterlee these days http://www.skydiveacademy.org.uk http://www.bpa.org.uk/
A mate of mine is doing a 12000 footer in vegas at the end of the month. Told him he'd get a canny view of the strip from u there!! I'd love to do one personally, dont care if its tandem or not.
Aye it'll be the tandem one. Just fancy something different as I am boring myself to death with the same things day in day out. Not sure whether just to pay to do one or try & raise a bit cash for the BHF as they worked wonders with my Dad, reading through the brochure I've noticed the minimum amount needed to be raised for a Charity Jump is £400 of which only £135 is donated to the designated Charity, which puts me off a little. What were the reasons that made you reconsider Jase?
I did a solo static line jump at Peterlee a couple of years ago, it was mint. Once you've done the first jump and paid the couple of hundred quid or whatever it's only 10-20 quid per jump after that, but you have to do a jump at least once every three months, I think, or you have to do the whole course again (and pay the ful amount). I had every intention of taking it up as a hobby but went past the 3 month deadline straight away. Definitely worth doing though, amazing experience.
its somet i think would be mint, i dont mind the idea of jumping out of a plane but dont like the idea of bungy jumping
if you go through here: http://www.skylineparachuting.co.uk/ you can arrange it all for any charity you like. You can do a 12,000ft solo jump too (if you do a days training before hand) if you do the AFF (accelerated free fall) which also gives you the first level of your sky dive cert. You actually have to watch your own altometer and pull your own chute etc but you do have two instructors who jump out at the same time to keep you steady. Like this: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6CO4nICxhc"]YouTube- AFF 1 Skydive[/ame] I did it last weekend and it was amazing. I had to raise over £535 for the charity but that was no hardship. Im just waiting on my video coming through.
wow that aff looked just as boring as fook. might as well have done a 12k static line - they held on to him all the way until he pulled - that sucks i wish i had of done it when it was just '1 thousand, 2 thousand, CHECK CANOPY!'
a 12,000ft jump out of a plane boring as fook?? you must have a very fun filled life!! They have to hold you to keep you steady cos if your body position is slightly off you would spin uncontrolably then your chute would get tangled. I dont think they would just allow someone to do a days training then jump totally unaided.... oh and they still do the 1 thousand, 2 thousand check canopy but your canopy is your chute so you do that count after youve pulled
Website They do it in county durham mate, just email or ring them and they take some details, ask you some questions, then send u the charity forms out. Fill those in, sign them & wallah!, ur in line for a 12,000ft plummet U have to raise the £250 odd b4 the jump tho that basically pays for the jump. Ill join u if u dont wanna die alone carson If u change ur mind at the last min in the plane tho... this vid below shows how to go about it [ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XIyxHL2Og3Y&feature=related]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XIyxHL2Og3Y&feature=related[/ame]
my bro actulyl won a holiday in prauge where we will be skydiving and bungee jumping a few month back but then found out it will not be till may next year
Get your name down, Aye the forms I have say a minimum of £400 needs to be raised which will be a piece of piss. I am debating wheter just to pay for the course myself then take it up as a hobby as I can imagine it to be unreal once you get the first one out the way.
True, im dieing to do it, bottle of wine and sum vods b4 hand tho if its allowed Theres a guy going to jump from space this year, from sum sort of baloon with a seat, they say its 120,000ft so its basicaly just outside the earths atmosphere which is a suicide mission in my eyes lol. A guy did do it tho from 98,000ft in 1960, first guy to really enter space.
Jumping from Space, NEEEEEE BOTHER!!! Nah, no alcohol allowed before the jump, not the sort of environment you'd want to be making a load of errors whilst your pissed like is it LOL
