I just dont understand all the Oasis botting. They havent put a good album out in years. Heard the new album and it is once again a distinctly average effort. They just really dissapoint me. Ive seen them live at least 10 times including the old Wembley, Murrayfield, Reading etc and was once a massive fan but i just dont get them anymore. I could go on a massive rant about them but it would be a waste of time, as only 3% of people would probably agree with me and i cant be arsed to have a debate about them. That was all..
Ive heard it through 3 times mate and heard bits of it loads of times. I know they are loved by millions but they have definately lost it..years ago. Standing on the shoulders of giants being one example, was really bad I dont get any enjoyment out of saying this, i just think the decline is really sad to see because i totally loved them at one point in my life.
I do know where your coming from to a certain extent, the tracks are very different to the older sounding albums but Noel hit the nail on the head in a recent interview regarding the style they've approached with Dig out your soul saying the older out & out rock tracks were made when they all led that kinda lifestyle, he went on to say there nothing like that now so would be wrong of the band to write music with that approach. I really like this album, theres only a few anthems on it & the rest do need a few plays before you appreciate them but I still think there quality tracks... IMO of course
Some reporter with Noel: Journo: "were you surprised that Liams track he worte ended up being so good" Noel: "No, he' in Oasis"
i know what u mean tyson, over the past 8 - 10 years, they've out out a handful of decent tracks. Nothing surpasses their first albums for me. when i was at uni from 94 > 97 - those albums were everything.
Thats exactly why they should have quit years ago Oasis are for having your arm round your mates giving it waldy on the air mic after 10 pints in some god awful boozer , not sitting in your room trying to find the meaning of life over a Hoison Duck wrap from Pret.
I'm supposed to be going to see them on the 16th at Wembley, but I'm going to have to sell my ticket because of my house and the crack with my job. Gutted
There talented artists, why should they stop just because the lifestyles & attitudes have changed? for me they've proved over a number of tracks with this album alone they dont need to write the 'fuck you' kinda tracks to still appeal.
WAAAAAAT? :fart: off the top of my head within an 8 year period roughly: Force of Nature Songbird Little by Little The Importance of Being Idle Lyla Let There Be Love Go Let It Out Little James Turn Up the Sun Stop Crying Your Heart Out
You might aswell listen to the first 2 albums and B-Sides album as most songs on there will be better than anything they released since 1997-8.
every song on the early albums are class. no fillers. now, 1 or 2 tunes are good per album and the rest is forgettable. i bet everyone knows all the words to all the tunes off the first 2 albums. they're great records. i understand they've grown up, and thats nice - but i liked them at the time when they were doing that early stuff.
there was a post on the oasis board that summed it up for me. here it is. "Iv'e been an oasis fan since the 90's. I was there for dm. I was there for wtsmg. Two complete classics without question. To follow that was always going to be hard. The hype and sheer excitment surrounding be here now was always going to exude the actual quality of the album. Be here now was a good album, not great and certainly no classic. From then on oasis have been trying to recapture what those two albums achieved. With each album there has been improvments. They have stepped ever closer to making that great album. For me doys is that album. I like the way there are no major hooks anymore. No huge chorus for a dunken singalong. Oasis have matured as have the fans who were following them since they began(well some of them) The album feels less comercial. A quality album in a less obvious way. From the vocals, guitars and drums. The structure of the songs aswell. Those looking for the 90's will be left disapointed. Those who have grown up with oasis will make more sense of this album. This is indeed the best album since wtsmg. The album be here now should have been."
