Turbulence :: We Are 10 With Hospitality @ Digital - Fri 31st October As we move into October, TURBULENCE CELEBRATES ITS 10TH BIRTHDAY! To help with the festivities we’ve invited none other than HOSPITAL RECORDS to come and liven up the party! As it falls on Friday 31st October, we thought it would be rude to not spice up the proceedings with a nod to Halloween, so get your best scary fancy dress on and we’ll be giving loads of free tickets away in the queues for the best outfits! The line up looks something like this… LONDON ELEKTRICITY / NICKY BLACKMARKET / LOGISTICS / MISTABISHI / SP:MC / PHOBIA / SWITCH MC The ever popular LONDON ELEKTRICITY tops the bill this month. The head honcho of Hospital, Tony Coleman makes his debut at Turbulence whilst currently promoting his brand new album ‘Syncopated City’. Tony has been heading up Hospital for 10 years now and has released some stunning music from people such as High Contrast, Logistics, Nu:Tone and loads more. His knack for A&R as well as writing killer tunes never ceases to amaze and has helped the Hospital brand become a force to be reckoned with in DnB. Come and see why… NICKY BLACKMARKET is one of drum & bass' most faithful servants. In fact, cut him and he'd most like bleed drum & bass. His early experience of DJing was as a teenager playing electro in the 80s, however, after discovering dance music he got involved with a Soho record shop, Blackmarket Records, and as the scene began to split, he set up the basement to cater specifically for the hardcore and breakbeat sounds. This basement became the epicentre of the DnB scene, with Nicky at the helm. Nicky has always been a DJ first and foremost, and whilst he continues to tour the world and work behind the counter at Blackmarket Records he remains a key figure in the scene, and probably the most approachable big name DJ on the planet! Matt Gresham aka LOGISITICS is one of the most exciting young producers around at the moment. Part of the Cambridge Three trio alongside brother Nu:Tone and friends Commix, he has firmly cemented himself into the drum and bass fraternity and shows no signs of moving anytime soon. Signed exclusively to the massive Hospital Records, he released his second album ‘Reality Checkpoint’ to critical acclaim earlier this year and with a another new album coming later this year in conjunction with Nu:Tone & Commix, things are as exciting as ever for the Cambridge lad! MISTABISHI aka Jamie Pullen is Hospital’s latest signing and exploded onto the scene in the past year or so with an extremely impressive list of releases on labels such as Virus, Commercial Suicide, Violence and of course Hospital. His two Hospital releases ‘Falling In Love’ and ‘No Matter What’ have further cemented what a talent this guy is, and give an intriguing look as to what his forthcoming LP will be like. A regular at Hospitality at Heaven in London, we can’t wait to see Jamie make his debut at Turbulence! On mic duties we welcome back SP:MC. One of the resident Renegade Hardware MC’s and a regular at Hospitality, Fabric and any other decent DnB night you care to mention, SP has learnt from the best having been brought through by the mighty MC GQ. Stu is also now dabbling in production along with another Turbulence regular, MC Verse and has also seen a dubstep release on the massive Tempa imprint. One not to miss!!! Resident support comes in the form of PHOBIA & SWITCH MC. This month's warm up slot goes to SAMBA. Room two will be host to a night of Hip Hop, dubstep and anything in between from SPECTRA, NIRZ, FLAB & PROFESSOR HADOSHROOM. Sound in this room will also be provided by Funktion One. reckon I might go to this, London Elec. were class when we saw them at WaxOn a few years ago. Does Nicky BM play the more soulful e-tastic stuff?
He tends to play across the board from old Jungle to more modern stuff - should be good Logistics and Mistabishi will play more soulful stuff...
Didnt notice Logistics on there, bought quite a few tracks off their album...Trying Times is awesome any plans to get DJ Zinc back on? He officially played the "Best Track Ive Ever Heard In A Club" when he played in Aug 06
Yeh Zinc's not DJing at the moment. He's been off for about 18 months now, he's done the odd thing in London but that's about it. Once he's back DJing we'll get him straight back on
