Downloaded the beta before. First impressions seem good, though the lack of 'favourites' button along the top had me raising an eyebrow. Less clutter is good but after being asked if I wanted to import my bookmarked links over it seemed a counter intuitive process to then make them tricky to find.
i really got used to the address bar feature in FF3, where you type a bit of the address and it auto completes the rest for you - that missing feature is my first flag
I get the autocomplete in Chrome Jase Been using it all day - I must say i'm rather impressed. Nice and light, very fast...IE on my work laptop is very slow, I think I have a new browser! Also no need to install any plugins (perhaps thats because i've installed them in firefox in the past? Good password saving functionality too. Apparently in the T's&C's though it says google can collect information that you look at and pass it on as it sees fit.
I'd imagine you could bash together a workaround to stop it doing this - just find where it sends the info to by watching the ports, then block it, or point the hosts file to the loopback address
a few buttons are messed up (the the post reply buttons on the forum) and i miss the drop down box for the browser history on the address bar - but it's nice all the same

Not exactly something you're used to seeing in a web browser's license agreement. There is also the point that Google reserves the right to automatically update and install Chrome. Interesting, "the software which you use may automatically download and install updates from time to time from Google. These updates are designed to improve, enhance and further develop the services and may take the form of bug fixes, enhanced functions, new software modules and completely new versions. You agree to receive such updates (and permit Google to deliver these to you) as part of your use of the services." ... so says the EULA. Hmm! Google definitely have some questionable ideas like
i wouldn't worry about it, google makes its money from ads, so sending info back to base will only mean the ads you usually get that mean nothing to you, will somehow entice you in - in other words, this way we might actually click on the ads instead of passing them off as spam myspace has a similar crazy t&c's page for artists, stating something like anything you upload belongs in some way or form to myspace - i don't see anyone running away from that or indeed being bumped by them companies at this size in this day and age only get the chance to be shady once, then everyone finds out real fast and moves on to the next thing, so it doesn't make any sense for them to be silly apart from all that, the browser loads like a bitch on this side, really very fast, but its crashed a couple of times today for me and i've had to jump back on to firefox - still in test mode, and im not ready to uninstall just yet
I've not tried it cos don't use windows but the comparisons i've been reading today have this still lagging behnd firefox / safari. is this not the case? Reluctant to install it even on a VM cos it's made by google but will have a crack if it's worth it?
if it doesent have a favourites/bookmarks bar underneath the adress bar i'm not ussing it thats my #1 reason amongst others why i'm using firefox
Lightning fast but has its flaws too, not as easy on the eye as firefox either but, I'll be keeping a close eye on it
it is canny quick like and does seem lighter that ie and ff. still dont appreciate google collecting what they want and having the pass it on to whom they feel like
Enough people kicked up a storm regarding their EULA policy that Google have altered their terms and conditions and basically said 'sorry, my bad.' Article here.
