Midweek Nights Is there a market for midweek techno/tech house in Newcastle? A mate is starting a night called Synthetik on Thursdays at The Other Rooms from September... Obviously its aimed at students and people who have Friday off...wondering what you think?
Re: Midweek Nights The management from Bijoux have asked us to do something mid week for the students starting in september. On a Thursday the biggest night is an indie rock night called stone love which is really popular and has ran for years but other than that i don't know what else happens on a Thursday. It's at Digital so it's next door to the other rooms.
I thought they opened up The Other Rooms for Stonelove and made it another room incorporated into that? They have done everytime I have been (which hasnt been for a couple of years)
WHQ has a couple but they arent strictly house/techno...think Inertia is one of them. Dont think students are massively into house/techno tbh, only 2/3 people on my course (150 people) showed any interest in Habit events. Plus you miss out on the working crowd because people dont want to get massively on it during the week unless its something special. Also you probably wont get many people who live outside of NCL to come because at the end of the day , who wants to pay £20 for a taxi on a thursday night and then £20 on a saturday and £20 on a friday etc etc. If you have a massive group of unemployed/student mates then go for it, otherwise you may struggle Wheres Bijoux? good luck although the market is pretty saturated as it is, people only have so much money / desire to go to the same kind of nights all the time.
Bijoux is over the road from the attic, they are looking to start a thing for students mid week with stupidly cheap drinks offers and house music and they've asked me n bonaz to play for them. I think half the battle with students is drinks prices, if your cheaper than the rest then who ever is out will come but like you say it's not sumit people will travel for it's just gonna be city based students mainly.

Yeah it always helps with a few girls like! Maybe some carbboard cut outs may fool pissed up freshers
You could attach strings to their arms and legs and hire someone to control their movements in time to the beat, thatd fool a fresher after 4 pints of cider Also loads of mirrors might work, that mirror in DB Social by the door has fooled me a few times
I'll watch home alone for a few tips coz Culken had his place lookin rammed Aye a can't wait to see that mirror in action at DB when someone turns up worse for wear
Re: Midweek Nights According to Facebook its on Wednesdays... Iam sure there was a night that tried to start up at the other rooms through the week not that long ago which had Audiojack on... Heard that didnt go very well...
