train tickets whats the chrapest site / place to get a return ticket from durham to leeds? virgins asking for 35.80 which seems canny steep considering i paid 10 for a one way ticket for the weekend just gone
when i do it on an indivitual ticket basis i got the journey down for 9 quid and the journey back for 12.50, i thought return tickets were meant to be cheaper
Singles is cheaper, u save stupid amounts of money when you do it that way cos retns have ya fucking eyes out
train ticket prices are random as fuck like. Try and book them well in advance and you get em for alot cheaper. You not got a new car sorted yet?
On a slightly different angle, I want to rant about national express. What the fuck do foreign people think of our railways when they buy an already extortionate 'open' return ticket, turn up at King's Cross to go home at 3pm, and get told that they have to wait till 7pm before their ticket is valid. It doesn't say anything about it on the ticket, or when you buy it, or in the station, but only after you've walked to the wrong end of kings cross to find a seat and sat down. Cunts. Replace GNER, spend a million quid on some stickers for the trains, put ticket prices up to pay for it and then give a shit service. In a country this size, there should be no question whatsoever of flying or even driving between newcastle and london, but when it's cheaper, quicker and more convenient than the train then people are going to do it.
its usually 30 quid return to fly to london, takes 45 minutes each way - fuck the train networks, they're shite
Re: train tickets I used to think that all the train booking websites were exactly the same but recently found out that they're not, they can have dramatically different prices. Best thing is to book directly on the train operator's own website, so (usually) www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com, and book as far as possible in advance. That'll be much cheaper than something like TheTrainLine, who don't do discounted advance tickets, and charge you 50p to pick up your own tickets (WTF!!??!!) and extra % to use a credit card. You can get Durham-Leeds for £6.50 each way, but obviously it all depends on what time of day you need to go. I travel down to London all the time for work and sometimes it can cost £260 return. Absolutely fcking ridiculous. Easyjet is £100 and that's peak time. Where's the logic there?!
cheers boys, got it for 21.50 both ways, cant grumble too much last time i was on the train it was clean and tidy and hitler would have been proud cos the fucker was actually on time, took about 1hr 20 mins to get from newcastle to leeds and didnt cost as much as a taxi from sunderland to newcastle.
