You're right. Everyones totally jumped on the bandwagon since they found out Proudy got dropped from Promise.

It was hellish a few weeks ago and now it's shit.

Again you have no idea, but to set you straight once again the reason for the statement was due to the line-up being posted on the message board minus my name, not a big issue granted but when 6 weeks prior to this I had Mark personally mailing me asking for my help to get promise back on it's feet it kinda raised a few questions which is why I mailed him to see what the crack was. I was then told that this months line-up wasn't anything to do with him & that he'd get in touch with Mr Garrington & some guy that runs Sea called Leon (who I didnt even know had anything to do with running the night) & would get back to me, by the Friday night when id still received no phone call, text or email I decided to say I wanted nothing to do with the night due to the level of organisation, quite some time before anything was posted by anyone else.

To be honest mate I dont really give a shit about the whole thing.
I've said I was leaving & held my tongue with everything inbetween. I have a lot of respect for what Promise was & was actually honored when I was asked to get involved & help get it up & away again, it didn't work out & I got the shitty end of the stick, so fuck, shit happens, im sure Promise will live without me & im sure I'll get by without them, however I do have a level of self respect & dignity which is why when the way in which (on more than one occasion) the powers that be came on the message forum publicly to explain certain blunders rather than contacting me in person (which would have kept all the tripe off the forums from the start) I decided to withdraw from the night, theres really nothing more to it.

Iv'e tried to keep as much of it off the forums as possible but I cant be held responsible if people want to voice their opinions, it's like any situation I suppose? It wouldn't be a Message board otherwise I guess? & the ones that are 'sitting on the fence' or claiming to be ' just neutral' are just as guilty as there also sticking their oar in just as much Lol.

I do think certain folk on the message board should be that little bit wider, especially when they've been on here for years, if your gunna say stuff thats potentially going to trip you up later down the line this place will have you for it, it's been like that for as long as I can remember so not sure why it's such a big deal all of a sudden?

I'M SURE EVERYONE WILL AGREE THAT THERE IS A LACK OF DANCE VENUES IN NEWCASTLE AND AN EVEN BIGGER LACK OF CLUBBERS DUE TO RECENT TRENDS IN MUSIC (INDIE, ROCK, LIVE MUSIC)

WE WILL KEEP PUSHING ON, DOING OUR BEST TO PUT ON GOOD QUALITY NIGHTS IN WHATEVER FIELD OF MUSIC WE CHOOSE. Hi Leon im Gary I do beleive this is the 1st time we've met.

A few things in my defence before we get into all the politics as every story has 2 sides:

- I was asked 8 weeks back from Mark in person if I wanted to get Promise back up & away, I subsequently ended up playing once in it's return...

- I have had zero contact between you or Mark in the lead up to the 2 events I was supposedly part of, not even a text or email to let me know set times.
Last month I turned up to Promise with a whole squad of mates not even knowing what time I was on! I was told on the dance floor not by you or Mark, by Simon Garrington that I was no longer required.... an hour before I was supposedly due on.
I didn't receive any phone call, text or email after this to explain the mixup or even an apology for wasting my full night, I came on the message board 2 days later to find Mark answering questions & explaining certain reasons why i didn't play to people who hadn't even attended the gig... all this before even getting in touch personally, which kinda disappointed me.

- When this months line up was posted (again ZERO contact from anyone) minus my name, I mailed Mark to see what was going on, I was told that this month was left down to yourself & simon garrington but he'd get back to me to clear up the confusion.... Mark never did which is why I mailed him 1st then posted on here withdrawing from the Promise night due to the sheer lack of organisation.

- Im now being informed that I was to be dropped Lol! which kind of clears up a few things up I guess & explains why my name wasn't on the promo this month, it's just a shame I wasn't personally told this & had to come on the forum to find it out. In regards to my music style I will say this, you or mark have NEVER seen or heard me play which is why the whole thing seems that little more strange if this was ultimately your decision? As for the "old Promise sound" Mark brought up previously then im not sure what you's have heard but im actually into Trance... and yes (shocker) play Trance, last time I checked Promise was pushing Prog/Trance with the occasional blert of Yoji, Scott Project, Marcel Woods, Lashes... all of which were that little bit tougher than what I've ever knocked out!

I dont think it's a case of "oh I thought you called him" I think it's more a case of "oh we have never called him"
In regards people giving other people a hard time I personally feel all this could have been easily avoidable by keeping it off the message forum in the first place? If you as a night dont want situations or promoters to get slurred then my advice is to have direct contact with those involved instead of explaining yourself publicly to a bunch of folk who you dont know or weren't involved for that matter, given that I think some have created a rod for their own back.

I respect things like this happen & have accepted I got the raw deal on this occasion, it's not the 1st time & id be nieve to think it would be the last. If anything im just disappointed at the level organisation & professionalism with the whole thing given Promise was the night which got me hooked on the music I love today, Iv'e always had the night on a pedestal it just seems a shame it's ended the way it has... or started should I say?
