Why do you love techno?

Is it the never changing repetitive beats. the flat monotonous kick drum, the dated hi-hats, the melodies n harmonies *snigger*, the fact its cool *snigger*

I just don't get it some one enlighten me please

the reason i love techno in all honesty has to be the rythym, solid hard beat and lots of fast energetical elements and different sounds.... its like a souped up progressive sound, but faster and harder!!!!

Its the same as any other dance music without the tune!

Personally i like techno because, it is as far away from the commercial market as can be. The people who follow techno are so diversed, there is no set way to dress or dance. you just do wot you feel like and it is perfectly accepted. The people in general are alot more educated on the music than in a Hard trance or dance club ( not paticulary knocking anyone ). The music it self has alot more about it than other styles. And the majority of techno dj's have so much technical ability it is un-real.

Get ya selfs to orbit in leeds next saturday for a treat of Sven Vath and Billy Nasty. Then you will see why i love Techno

Techno fanatics remind me so much of the cyber kids of 2 years ago... thinking themselves above other less educated folks, thinking they're some how more underground and less mainstream,yada yada yada

fads come and go but techno will always be shit

I think on the whole hard dance and trance fans are quite narrow minded, if you were to ask most of them on music preference all you would get is prog this breaks that. they are not interested unless it is their style where as you find in techno clubs people are more open minded to other styles. personaly this is wot i have found, i could be wrong.

Your on a trance messageboard and outside of pilly phil their aint many trance purists...

Techno fans/Prog fans they're all the same, far too intelligent for their own good - maybe this is why they embrace other music forms... Shame the rest of clubland aint on the same level as u techno heads

The thing is i took my head out of my arse a while back and i realised that the scene isn't all about getting smashed and trance music. i have loved trance since i started clubbing there are still trance dj's i would go to see but on the whole their is more than trance out there. alot of people are saying that the clubbing scene is dying on its arse but if you look at clubs nights like bedrock, tribal sessions and tyrant they still pack out clubs. I am not looking for a big argument just putting my views over.

In my eyes is just as "up your arse" as the comments you'd find in trance, hard house, whatever...

Personally I don't enjoy the sound of techno, with the odd exception like umek - gatex or a lot of the acid techno stuff (the geezer - raw 10, Paul Gaarn - Squaters, etc.)

ok with exceptions we agree to disagree but trust me my head is not up my arse. i dont look down on anyone but i don't expect anyone to look down on me. music is preferencial to the individual and like i said these are just my opinions gathered from my experiences

ive found that a fair few ppl into techno cant understand why ppl like trance... but i also find ppl into trance who cant understand techno. as far as i can make out, theyre all just house - i love em all.
