If you ever try to get a loan or mortgage they will fuck you off, not worth it for the sake off 400 and odd quid. How come everyone fucks up abroad with there phone bills, how hard can it be to just not phone people

I had one last year for Council Tax, I rang the local council and setup a payment scheme (think it was £100 a month) and the court appearance was cancelled but I still had to pay the court fees (think it was £60) but I dont have a CCJ on my credit file.

If you make a court appearance (to either argue your case against paying it or to accept the charges) then you will be more than likely be made to pay back the monies owed unless you have a really strong case. They analyse your finances and the you agree a repayment scheme; someone I know had a CCJ about 10 years ago for about £300 council tax and they paid back £2 a week

You dont get a criminal record but it will appear on your credit file for 6 years (i think) and you probably wont be able to get credit which can be anything from credit cards to phone contracts to actually being able to rent a flat to getting a mortgage.

Its up to you but Id ring the phone company, tell them you cant afford to pay it all at once but wish to setup a payment plan. Theyll probably bar your phone, put you on a free tariff (so you dont rack up any more charges until youve paid it off) and then theyll ask a set amount from you per month/week.

You can get round it by moving house, changing your name etc but why bother.

Are you sure the bill is correct? Find out how much your company charges for phone calls/texts from Ireland and work it out

You wont have to pay it all at once. Theres government legislation in place to help consumers who get into difficulty.

Got to the Citizens Advice Bureau for more info.

    Pay it!!!

Ring your provider, explain you have cancelled the direct debit as you can not afford the bill, then come to an agreement to pay in installments, aslong as you are offering to pay something and you stick to your payment plan they cant do anything else.

I bumped a phone bill off years ago, bit me in the arse when i needed a loan! Especially with the credit crunch you need a clean credit file to get a mortgage/loan/finance.

I do collections for T-Mobile & would definitely recommend getting it paid off. Like Shortee said, its not worth fucking your credit file up for the sake of £400, which according to one of your previous posts you do actually have the money to be able to pay it off.

The collections path for T-mobile is basically send out a few letters/courtesy calls, then pass you on to a Debt Collections Agency which often occurs after just 2 months. They can work out a payment arrangement over 6 months but that all depends on your credit rating. I cant remember what Orange's collections path was as I never really dealt with that dept when I worked them & dont know what the other networks are like.

    What network you with anyway?

Mate you have racked the bill up yourself, your provider hasn't done anything wrong so unfortunately I can't see why you are complaining about it. Surely you knew it wouldn't be cheap?

If you don't pay then your credit rating will go through the floor and you'll find it very very difficult to get credit anytime in the future. Why not ring up and have a word with them, I think you may be suprised at how they can help you out. :)

If you do ring up, be nice about it. If you start shouting & kicking off you'll either get hung up on or they wont help you :)
