Digital is a bit soulless anyway. Kinda exciting for the movers, as all well respected and good nights.

I hope the likes of evolve and wax:eek:n can survive though if digital gets turned into some charve infested shithole.

A change is as good as the rest I suppose. :)

    dig dig.

Yeah i reckon this is their best shot really the more hardcore orientated 4X4 nights. There's nothing in the north that really caters for hardcore ravers like vibealite or anything like that. Then again most kids who love hardcore round here are proper monkey heads or love scouse house. If they did this they'd need to change the branding to 'your future is ASBO'. There's a big scouse house night on at the Academy which packs out ran by Darren who used to be involved with Hangar. Another possibility is Detox, they've got an established crowd and book some pretty big names. As far as competition goes this wouldn't conflict with any of the nights that have left and Evovle is still situated at digital i think. Trance, Hardhouse, Hardcore, Scouse House. There's your four fridays filled. R&B on saturday nights although the quayside clubs already have that market cornered.

Regeneration should still be on there no ?

Detox won't be going to Digital - trust me ;)

and i'm sure Evolve has said they also won't be going 'over the picket line' back to digital - just waiting to hear from Wax : on now

Isnt Evolve Digitals night anyways, with Richard Tulip fronting (co-promoting it) ?

..... There is no picket line to cross in that case, unless thats what they want you to think? ;)

(I might be completely wrong about that)

I don't see what picket line there is to cross they wouldn't be stepping on anyones toes. The 'Boycott' of digital is the large nights that were housed there who are associated with certain parties previously involved with digital. Expansion of Newcastles club scene can only be a good thing and free up smaller venues for smaller nights. I like digital as a club the rent is relatively cheap for a club it's size, The sound system is awesome the staff are friendly and professional for the most part. The 'big' nights are sorted come what may. Hardcore loyal followings and the contacts with the agencies for the bigger artists to back up their clout with the punters . I would hate to see digital fold/ go commercial if they can provide for the underground without stepping on the toes of established promoters. I would see that as a win for newcastle.

I very much doubt there is a market for hardcore big enough to sustain a club like digital ?

It might have ticked all the boxes, but you dont seem to hear anyone else going on about the distinct lack of 'something' about the clubs atmosphere eh. ..... A refit might help things massively.

There's a huge market for hardcore. I used to work in concepts over in Durham back in the day and the amount of hardcore records and bonkers/raver baby cd's we sold was insane. It was literally the shops bread and butter apart form maybe monkey tapes considering a lot of our stock was more traditionally student orientated (Indy, punk D&B to name a few) . With targeted region wide promotion, virals & booking the huge names in hardhouse and hardcore along with a fair door price (£12) would = win i reckon.

Yeah, and you used the word 'back in the day'..... which was a long time ago.

I started out being into hardcore breakbeat and then happy hardcore type music (for my sins :D ), and i dont deny at one time it was big news in the UK, but these days its niche and nothing more, much like most of the other non-digital nights in the NE etc.
