I think with Goodreef doing a thing up here next month Digital will have their eyes opened Trance/Hard House wise if numbers is what there after.

but you're missing a few factors, stuff other cities do to help increase the potential geographic pull of their nightlife as wide as possible.

leeds for instance has been doing all night clubbing including after hours clubs since the early 90's, which has the effect that people can travel to leeds from all over the region by bus / train, go clubbing then just get the standard bus / train back in the morning, rather than having to pay a 30-40 quid taxi fare home.

Leeds also has regular busy night busses running through the night to take people home in all directions.

think how much wider the potential pull of newcastle would be if people from outside newcastle itself could come for a night out without worrying about either a massive taxi fare home, or a 2 hour wait out in the cold for the first public transport.

Newcastle is the natural nightlife hub for everyone from berwick - durham (and further), and the coast > hexham and even carlisle and cumbria if we had joined up opening hours and public transport times IMO.

i recon what is going on in newcastle at the minute is class....

there are so many nights popping up and personally im having to sack off nights which a few months ago i would have loved to go too but at the minute there is too much going on and i cant afford to go too them all...

some of the bookings house / techno etc nights have had recently and have booked for the comming months are toally class and i cant wait..

i think newcastle is really picking up pace, there is a lack of venue but what is going on in the venues is brilliant

deffo agree with last few points - its better that it has ever been. there is probably 3/4 x the choice now that there was 5 years ago.

Loads of dfferenr genre are represented in newcastle at the moment the dance scene healthy than its ever been up here.

Just a question of not doing the same as loads of other nights and making venues that may be lacking equipment work.

Takes a clued up dedicated team but it does happen.

I know that most forms of electronic musc are now being covered in the city.

But do poeple really want another House/minimal techno night when the ones who cover these styles do it so well.

Fair play Danny mate, just didnt want there to be any misunderstandings.

The monthly thing is what we are trying to do and we are making in-roads, but it is proving hard work. Hopefully we should have some good news on this front very soon.

I do agree competition is good and healthy, and we can all be very proud of the fact that our small city has such a varied choice, we just want to add one more, that's all! :cool2:

Oh and Danny, ill defo be along for Joris Voorn

Think a lot of you are getting confused and thinking that 20 odd people posting on a messageboard who are really into 'the scene' are representative of the clubbing population.

If you offer something people like, they will go and you'll do well.

Are you that wanker from Big Brother?

    I don't think I was slagging anyone off by saying that, all I meant was that people on here obviously care a lot about going out, they come to a forum explicitly about going out clubbing. The average punter doesn't care as much about the music as they do about;

    A - the drugs
B- who they go out with
    C - having a laugh.

Yes, music is an issue for them but not as much as it is for those really into it. So, if there is too much of a variety some nights won't fill up.

if I could be arsed to undo the ignore button I would read what you had to say

but your words have about as much impact as a moth farting in a hurricane

:fart: :fart: :fart:

I daresay it probably goes along the lines of " have ago at melt cos I cant deal with the fact he said there may be 1 or 2 charvas at my "old skool" event" being held at mcdigital

when you have realised there is more to life than djing with a little blue smurf on top of your head get back to me
