get yer specs and your rat out!

PHIL KIERAN is switching gears again. After three years of almost total dedication to his critically acclaimed Alloy Mental project (www.myspace.com/alloymental), its time for the Belfast DJ and producer to refocus his talents to making more global techno gems. Combining the raw, compelling beats of Basic Channel with the effortless grooves of Funk D'Void, Phil Kieran's music contrasts darkness and light, is both uplifting and unsettling. Expect more. Having had his acid baptism at David Holmes' seminal Sugar Sweet nights, Phil served his apprenticeship with a ten year residency at legendary Irish club, Shine, but commitments spanning four continents means that he is more often found in an airport lounge bound for Barcelona or Buenos Aires than in Belfast these days. Summer festivals beckon, as well as the now regular jaunts to the likes of Fabric, London and Watergate, Berlin. Phil Kieran's discography is now as impressive as his collection of passport stamps.

KETOLOCO The name says its all really. If you haven't heard of KeToLoCo yet the chances are you've been in a Ket induced coma for the last few months. KeToLoCo is an underground afterparty and club night for like-minded freaks .
It began in a seedy basement in Headingley Leeds as an unofficial official afterparty for the likes of Back 2 Basics, Technique/Asylum and Dirty Disco. Attracting class A DJ’s back to their mini gaff such as Paul Woolford and Ralph Lawson. Now venturing into the slightly more legal world of club life, Ketoloco host a room in Back to Basics and have started taking over the most darkened and sacred corners of clublife.

    RESIDENTS

BIGGER THAN JESUS AKA Nick Adams and Pete Robinson are two of the most creative producers and DJ's to represent North East England! Constantly bringing their hedonistic party vibe, which their poor mama's christened them with, to wherever they play. This has lead to gigs in every major city in the UK and beyond, including Abandoned Zoo's in Ibiza to Massage Parlours in the Leeds!! Along the way they've played for some of the biggest nights in the Country, including Back to Basics @ MyHouse in Leeds, Tribal Sessions @ Sankeys in Manchester, Renaissance @ Custard Factory in Birmingham, Ketoloco @ MyHouse, Leeds and Ibiza and the legendary Cross in London!!

Their latest 'Witch Kraft E.P' out on T.F.E Records has received support from DJ's such as Phil Kieran, Audiojack, Luca Bachhetti, Johannes Heil, Axel Bartsch, Mistress De Funk (Radio 1), Mike Monday, Funk D'Void and Tom Pooks, which demostrates their diverse and unique ability to write off the hook beats, appealing to all sorts of freaks! Also watch out for some sick remixes of their tracks from the likes of Phil Kieran, Audiojack, Perc and Fergie all ready to drop soon like a 9 month gone, pregnant laydee!!!

MICHAEL SWEENEY A new blood on the scene and an unearthed gem – Lube yourself up to this sick mo fo as he spanks your soul sideways and beyond.
The perfect resident for a twisted night. Dropping bad ass beats and techno vibes, providing the finest blend of anything venturing on the side of wrongness. A force in producing the finest concotion of sublime frequencies.
With his new productions in the post, Mr Sweeney is certainly one to watch in 2008!

I agree, but the sort of music that's getting played at all these similar nights is perfectly suited to an intimate space. Therefore Cosmic is a more than suitable venue. As long as certain nights aren't stepping on each others toes (which evidently they're not by swapping nights with each other) then I can't see there being a problem.
