    Fucking England

That has to be one of the worst england performances since the Turnip Era.

For me 5 things stick out.

    1) We were played off the park by a much better team
    2) In all honesty we do not deserve to go through anyway
    3) Our Players are not as good as we think they are. If we really have world class players and play in the best league then even with Russia and Croatia in our group it should be a doddle.
    4) Mclaren must go this is the third or fourth game of this qualifying where he has ballsed up his tactics.
    5) Gerrard and Lampard cannot play in the same team for fuck sake we have tried this for nearly four yearS!!!!!!!!!!!

Gutted and not happy:evil:

We do have the players, no question at all about that. We just haven't had a manager who could get them to play.

Like i've mentioned before, we are technically poor but that has to change at grassroots level.

It was so plain to see tonight aswell, how comfortable Croatia were on the ball compared to us.

We havn't had a technically gifted player since Scholes left :(

I think we still have a handful who have technical ability, but most are poor technically compared to nations who have players with less overall ability.

Until we train the kids right we will never see the benefits at international level.

Lets not get carried away with all this technical bollocks our record in international tournaments is far greater than the Spanish even thought they are going to the Euros & we are not.

The Spanish are an exception, we are technically inferior to other nations and this is exposed when we can't keep the ball or pick out passes. Poorer players can make better teams when techique is higher.

We have made up for this deficit in the past by busting a gut but this set of players don't seem able to... I don't think that it's laziness or prima donnas, but there is a lack of motivation.

If you can't keep the ball and play passes under pressure then you are in trouble, especially at international level. Long balls are not a pretty or effective way of winning most matches.

I name one of the finest footballing nations going as a exmaple & you fire back with "are an exception":fart:

We are brilliant at passing it along the back four find me a better nation.

Spain are massive underachievers, and that makes them an exception... most other major nations and many smaller yet talented nations have made an impact on world football... the main reason being a good team ethic (coming from the coaching) and decent technical ability.

Aye the defence know how to pass to themselves (until Neville passes back to Robinson) :p

just ironic they were given a 2nd chance (which they didnt deserve) and still balls it up!

    Says it all really....

Reverting back to a 4-5-1 formation always looked like a defensive move from the off despite Mclaren stating they were going out to win it.

And Gerrard, lampard 2getha again after all the speculation in previous games was evidently highlighted again.

England are technically, tactically and passionately inept.

    i think he's on his way :)

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7100393.stm

i listen'd on five live last night and it was clear Croatia was uber comfy on the ball compared to the England. It seems England only know how to play the game at 2 speeds aswell, walking and breakneck

To be fair tho, the points that were dropped before this game were

it was this run of results that put us in this position

    07.10.2006 v F.Y.R. Macedonia (H) 0-0 should of won at HOME
    11.10.2006 v Croatia (A) 0-2
    24.03.2007 v Israel (A) 0-0

overall, we were no where near good enough.

O'neil maybe but i can't see Mourinho going for this, the England jobs a managerial graveyard, i doubt he'd risk his reputation with the england squad in the state it is at the moment imo there's hardly room for progress, i might be wrong though.

I'd disagree, I think Mourinho has the ego to take the England job to try and prove where others have failed. Plus the media and expectation wouldn't bother him. It's just the FA couldn't use him as a puppet, he's his own manager.

It's a case of whether he really was serious about only wanting to manage Portugal internationally... I reckon a fat wad of cash could swing it. I wouldn't put money on him taking it though.

I do think England have some top quality senior players and loads of great youngsters who could match any other nation with the right coaching. Wenger made Arsenal a great footballing team with players like Keown, Parlour, Adams, Dixon, Winterburn, Wright etc all playing intelligently... so English players can do it with the right man in charge + look at Mourinho, Ferguson all making English players play at the highest level.

Nah i don't think he will, its one thing going somewhere to prove yourself where you have either cash or the ability to buy players from different nations, england is really a dead end at the minute, the players at the minute have proved they are overrated and in the premiership teams are not bringing through top quality youngsters, so where does that leave an england coach?
