The Sugarshack & Digitzed with Paul Van Dyk, John Askew & Luke Terry Feb 1st 2008

After weeks of speculation and wondering if we were ever going to find a new venue Digitized is proud to announce that it's new venue will be The Empire Theatre, Middlesbrough. The first night will be on Friday February 1st. DJ's on the night will be Paul Van Dyk, John Askew and Luke Terry in the mainroom with myself and Lucien Fraud (Gaz Smith) upstairs. We will be working with The Empire to bring the best Trance line up's in the mainroom with us hosting the best in underground music upstairs. We will be having guests upstairs too in the future.

For those who have not heard of The Empire Theatre, click on the link below for full info on the venue. It's one of the biggest venue's in the country.

Gaz Smith and myself would like to thank all our supporters, The Empire and all those who have stuck by us. It's been a difficult few weeks but now we can look to the future and with the help of The Empire, finally bring Middlesbrough some exciting line ups and some major nights. We hope to see you down there.

    Paul Van Dyk:

PvD is renowned as one of the hardest working artists, with sold-out tours that cross each continent, headline spots at every major festival, and a hugely successful recording career. With over 3 million albums sold worldwide, van Dyk travels around the world over 16 times each year to sold out performances internationally. 2007 alone has brought us PvD remixes of Depeche Mode’s “Martyr” and Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around.”

Paul van Dyk’s touring diary remains incredibly hectic with regular globetrotting stops at major venues across the globe from New York, London, Ibiza to India, China and Singapore. In the little time remaining between all the travel, Paul van Dyk resides in Berlin where he has his own radio show “Paul van Dyk’s VONYC Sessions” which airs weekly on Area 33 on Sirius Radio on Thursday nights at 6PM ET (and rebroadcasts Saturdays at 8PM ET and Tuesdays at Midnight ET) and Soundgarden which airs every Wednesday 2pm – 4pm (EST) on Fritz radio and over the internet (www.fritz.de).

    John Askew:

John Askew is without doubt one of the hottest tech/trance producer/djs in the world. His record labels Discover and Discover Dark have given birth to some of the most exciting trance and techno records of the last 6 years – including John’s latest single “Chime” which Paul van Dyk played 5 weeks in a row on his legendary Soundgarden Radio show.

After the huge successes of his singles “Vellum”, “The Door” and “New Dimension” and “Fuck Private Ryan”, John has gone on to deliver release after release of consistently high quality club music.
Paul van Dyk said of John

“John Askew is a great producer – one of the most talented and inspiring musicians of the last years! I know him for a long time and he always throws out exiting new stuff. Spinning his sounds in my sets are always big joy, for the crowd as well as for myself.”

As a remixer John has worked for numerous high profile labels such as Euphonic, Afterglow Records, Duty Free, Ministry of Sound, Monster Records, Flux Delux, Moodmusic, Fenology and Paul van Dyk’s legendary Vandit Records on which John’s remix duties have been employed numerous times.

His debut artist album “Lower the Tone” (released in 2006) received massive acclaim in the press and within 4 weeks of its release was completely sold out – a testament to John’s die hard fan base.

    Luke Terry:

His music however has travelled much further – in the record boxes of legends like Ferry Corsten and Paul Van Dyk to being broadcast on Radio 1 courtesy of Dave Pearce. Not to mention a whole host of Internet radio stations (including his own show on TranceAirWaves for its entire broadcasting life) and of course in clubs up and down the country and abroad. Luke has also featured as a guest on Riley & Durrant's Nu Breed show broadcast on Galaxy Radio.

Production after production has appeared out of “Elude Studios” (born from his collaboration with Chris Priscott under the “Elude” alias, now signed to Monster & Six:Thirty Records), but always the perfectionist, Luke strives to create something more singular that the masses of “bland” trance on the market at present. His music has been signed to Ferry Corsten’s Tsunami label, Monster, Team Toad, Spectrum, Six:Thirty, and Equilibrium.

In 2004 Luke joined Vuzz - Newcastle’s fastest growing trance night - and regularly played alongside DJ’s such as Ben Lost, Goldenscan, Hemstock & Jennings, Misja Helsloot, Paul Kerhshaw and DJ Precision. With more releases in the pipeline, with remixes of and from the likes of Matti Kotala, Vascotia, Santiago Niño and Ronski Speed, 2005 saw Luke knock it up a notch in the production world. However, as a fully committed law student at university the DJing subsided slightly but Luke still managed to play some local gigs and alongside Matt Hardwick at the prestigious Empire in Middlesbrough.

To 2006 and Luke has already had 2 releases; Elude - Purgatory and his collab remix with Chris Shepherd of Gerry Cueto's Blue. Soon to come include his own tracks Oblivion and When It All Falls Apart along with other collaborations with Efi Rand, Kopi Luwak, Tiff Lacey, Chris Shepherd and of course Chris Priscott as Elude. DJ dates this summer are already filling up fast including reappearing at the Empire, followed by Passion the following day!

2007 has seen him continue his success with more releases and playing at The Empire's 14th Birthday alongside Jon O'Bir to a packed house.

And what is the secret to Luke’s success? “Hard work and a lot of luck,” says Luke with an air of modesty. It’s sometimes difficult to understand how such a promising new talent manages to keep his feet locked firmly on the ground

    Cliffy Burrows:

He has played gigs around his home town of Middlesbrough and across the UK. He also has secured Radio Residencies on Afterhours.FM and Nettwerked Radio. In March 2006 he was picked from thousands of entries to appear on ETN FM's Rising Stars. The following month the same mix he did for that show was picked for Mix Disc Monthly's April 2006 Showcase which he went onto win and is now in their hall of fame.

He was also head of promotions for Trancemixers.Com where he secured guest mixes from the likes of Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Activa, John Askew, Perry O'Neil, Manuel Le Saux, Graham Gold, Ian Betts, Thomas Datt, Neal Scarborough, Lange & Phynn plus many others. He also organized the Trancemixers night in Ibiza in conjunction with Vicky Devine at her Charlys Angelz night in Play 2. He took the station from a handful of listeners to maxing the server.

2007 has started well for him with 2 Guest Mix appearances on Kuffdam’s Club Damage Show on DI.FM, a mix broadcast on national radio station Galaxy 105-106 FM and it has also seen him start ‘Digitized’ in conjunction with DJ Gaz Smith. Digitized is a company that spans all areas of Dance Music. There is Digitized Recordings the record label, Digitized Promotions and Management and of course Digitized the club night. The club night was held at various venues in Middlesbrough and it has seen DJ's play at the night such as Activa, Kuffdam, Greg Downey & Jon O'Bir with Cliffy being one of the residents. 2008 looks to be an even bigger year with the night moving to famous Empire Theatre in Middlesbrough.

    Lucien Fraud:

Lucien is a young Dj from the north east of England who has a passion for all things electronic and underground. Frequenting clubs such as *riffraff, Back2Basics, Shindig, Sugarshack, Bugged Out! (to name just a few) have influenced and fueled his love for dingy, dark tech fuelled music.

From the early days of clubbing in the empire it was no surprise that this youngsters first passion was to be involved in the club scene. Watching the likes of Oli Faulkner, Buckley, Dave Seaman, Lisa Loud, Anthony Pappa, Timo Maas, Sander Kleinenberg, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia and many of the other elite dj's of the world, made its mark on Lucien, and these days will remain with him forever.
