who doubted the safety of the smart car? This wasnt me Thought i'd tell everyone that my beautifull bright orange fourtwo is a gonner! We had a car accident on saturday 4th, a nail blew out one of the rear tires while we were doing 60mph on the A13 (essex). We spun across the road, hit the verge and rolled sideways before being launched into the air, turning over twice and landing on our wheels! Can't believe it...policeman said that if it was any other car we had crashed in , we wouldn't have just climbed out with minor cuts and bruises!! My poor little smart has proved itself 200%. Bought another one straight away to replace it. If that isn't a recomendation to buy one (just based on safety), I don't know what is!
Re: who doubted the safety of the smart car? I think it's more the fact that if you hit another car, you'd get hammered
Re: who doubted the safety of the smart car? you didnt hit owt tho, if you hit into another car you'd be dead most likely. glad your alive like but your accident isnt much of a statment about the cars overall safety
A pal at work lost control of his car on ice on a national speed limit road when he was 18. It flipped over and rolled a few times before hitting a tree on the passenger side. The lad in the passenger side was injured but me mate got out with a few scratches. It's a collision that causes damage. It makes you think though, one little thing like you tyre going and you could be dead within an instant.
are you all plonkers? read the VERY first line! if they HAD of bashed it - i'm sure lulu would have richie in the garage right now knocking the dents out
I had the engine sieze in my ka whilst doing 70-80mph down the M6 a couple of months back. I was doing the lazy thing and coasting it down a huge hill in neutral when it stalled. I pulled it onto the hard shoulder, let it run to a halt and then couldn't get it started again. When the RAC bloke turned up he identified the engine as fucked - he said if I hadn't been coasting, the gearbox would have torn itself apart, my front wheels would have locked, and I would have found myself face first into the central reservation. My thoughts: 1) Always count yourself lucky if you can walk away from an accident 2) coasting is the way forward
aye gotta think yorself lucky, i know of people who have crashed into somet at 30 and completely ruined themselves and on the flip side, people who have crashed doing over a hundred and walked away with scratches, a mate crashed doing over a hundred rolled his car fuck knows how many times and hit a pilon knocking the power to his town out
The first line says it wasn't her, and it's obviously just copied and pasted from somewhere else cos she was on here a while ago about buying a Smart and everyone kept saying how unsafe they are.
christ thats bad me and stu were just talking about this the other day! whats the insurance like for these shit cars?
Re: who doubted the safety of the smart car? Safety?!!!! I had a blow-out at 95mph on the M1 and hardly noticed!
