midi controllers for ableton live just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a decent 4 channel usb midi controller for ableton. was at my mates friday and he had a 2 channel midi mixer but would want more than 2 channels. any help much appreciated
trigger finger by m-audio is a pretty good cheap option - 4 faders, 8 dials an 8 pressure sensitive pads. Supports midi learn and is really straightforward to use.....
the one i was using at my mates was the same make as this really want something set out like a proper mixer like the korg but dont really wanna pay that much until i get used to using it. u got any other suggestions along these lines cheers jase, bit out of the price range atm but its along the lines of what im looking for
im not really in to the idea of actually djing with ableton (i like serato too much)... however, ive read alot of times that the behringer bcr2000 and bcf2000 are excellent for this, and at a good price now, im not one for behringer kit, but the mixer i had wasnt too bad for what i paid for it (i wouldnt want to be using it outside the house though) have you had a look at http://www.abletonlivedj.com/ check out the forums there, they should be able to keep you right with a controller hope you're well and this lot helps m8
I use an xponent controller with torq for djing. Works spot on. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUIi1u5OJF4"]YouTube- DJmag M-Audio Torq Xponent Midi DJ Controller Review[/ame] It works with ableton thru rewire and then i use the trigger finger for controlling ableton loops & fx etc. Is pretty good for a halfway solution with ableton / proper dj software The m-audio stuff i've used seems good for the price. Can't comment on the behringer gear as I've not used their midi controllers Moved to torq from serato because of the xponent controller but will go back to serato when 1.8 comes out and I can use the xponent with it... Torq is pretty good - loads of features (vst fx compatible, 16 channel synced sampler, onboard fx etc) but still not totally stable when using them all - I have no bother at all but some people are.
That xponent thing looks really good! I wonder if the build quality is any good ..... or would it look a bit fisher price in the flesh?
Looks nice in the dark but doesn't really look that good in the light. It's built solidly - the platters are nice and heavy but the faders are a bit lighter than on the Vestax mixer i'd replaced with it. Had it a month or so and I'm used to it now. It's good because you can configure every setting behind the scenes in torq and get all the Eqs etc working exactly how you like. It's really responsive (even on my oldish 1.7GB centrino laptop) and I've had no issues at all with the software / hardware. It works best with torq bt I've downloaded the settingfile for traktor and can use it with that too.
