Maybe they will 'overhaul' the lack of any atmosphere in there at the same time they tweak the sound system.

the one thats in at the moment ?

if so , it sounded great a month ago when simon baker was on..i think the system hadnt been in long then. was really impressed with the sound that night.

however last time i was in last week it was lacking alot, was no where near as punchy, crisp or clear as previous.

maybe could do with a springclean or a dust. :)

installing a great system is one thing - maintaining it correctly is another...

clubs that have the best sound are usually not the ones with the best sound on paper, but the ones that look after them and pay close attention to detail..

the best system in the world will sound shite if it's not kept well. It's abit like the old guitarists joke 'well it was in tune when I bought it'.
If there is no one who really running it and maintaining it properly it will soon get fucked over by people with a little knowledge and a big ego fiddling with it.

fuckety bollocks, hope they ain't fucked again.

on a related note we went into the red rooms last friday afternoon before that underworld after party to sort the sound out, and it turns out they've had the crossover set completely wrong in there so the 4 big bins were only kicking out sub-bass, with the bass, mid and treble coming from the mid tops. Apparently it's been like that since pretty soon after the last time we sorted it out for them.

I knew that rig should have been capable of sounding a hell of a lot better than it had been for backlash etc.

shame the mixer was fucked though:rolleyes:

fingers crossed we'll get the sound sorted out again at the cosmic next time we're in.

been trying to sus that out for ages, combination of factors...

was chris lib vs lenny dee, and lenny's a short arse so I reckon the monitor sound was firing over his head plus one monitor channel was set 4 notches higher than the oth er.... loads of factors, probably the attenuation on the mixer was set low as well so they were having to push it on the gains to get it loud enough out front.

fuck knows, expensive mistake though, and one that a limiter should have stopped. Pretty sure they put one in after this happened, but it wasn't there anymore last time we were in.

no point going in until the friday as they've got midweek nights on pretty much every night.

If you really want to try and sort it out, I'd bring a graphic eq in, and put it inline between the dj mixer and the amps (ie. actually in the actual booth) so you can tweak it without running up and down the stairs. There's currently no graphic on the system so the potential to tweak it is minimal (unless they've actually stuck one in now).

Main thing that'll fuck it up though is sticking a djm 600 in with the attenuation too high. Keep the attenuation fairly low then you'll get a cleaner signal and can boost it safely with the amps if needed coz they've got loads of headroom.
