Lee Burridge - Balance 12 (Trendy Techno ahoy)

Latest volume in the Balance series is a triple-disc mix from Lee Burridge. 'Balance 012' arrives in September.

The mix is Burridge's first solo compilation since 2003's '24:7', and across three discs presents a tidy snapshot of the current state of house and techno, ranging from deep house du jour (Efdemin, Ferrer & Sydenham, Marcus Worgull), to intricate minimal (Pheek, Onur Ozer) to more pumping techno (Alexi Delano & Xpansul, Paul Ritch, Par Grindvik).

I don't get this new techno stuff, it's either very slow and melodic which is ok for listening to in the house but a sleep fest for a club, or just a bunch of random noises with most of it sounding shitly produced having cack sounding kick drums etc.
I suppose it's all to their own but half the productions sound like we're going back in time rather that forward.

Yeah your totally right. But some of it sounds very upfront, well produced and you can hear a lot of originality in it. A lot of dance music sounds like a monkey had programmed the synths whereas a lot of this stuff your talking about you can tell the producers know how to use their stuff.

Maybe it's just that i still prefer the rolling percussion, but i don't think i could even dance to half the stuff around at the minute, everything from techno, house and prog is sounding more and more the same imo, with glitchy percussion and very stop starty, it was the same when electro first burst onto the scene everyone from techno to house producers just jumped onto the bandwagon.
I just think it's a shame that the gap between genres is becoming less and less, because if you don't like the latest fad your pretty much stuck for stuff to buy.

Absolutely love this track! Trance in its finest form imo, the way it kicks in after the break is totally unexpected!

The b-side to this is equally as good too.
