Digitized - July 27th - Activa, Marcos Euphonic, Jay K Walker & More

This months Digitized see's some real big hitters in the Trance world gracing the decks. On the night we have Activa headlining along with new resident Marcos Euphonic, Jay K Walker aka Apogee, Freesoup, Owen Clark and Digitized Resident Gaz Smith in the Mainroom. In the House Room we have up and coming talent Bish and Digitized Resident and legend Dave Little. This will definately be one of the biggest nights of July in Middlesbrough so don't miss out. The fun starts at 9pm at The Basement and will continue til 3am.

Also this month we have the Digitized Pre-Party starting at The Pacific Bar. This will run from 7-12pm and will have special guests like Freesoup, Digitized Pre-Party permanent resident Andy Gregory plus other Digitized Residents.

We all know how good Activa is with his productions being cained by the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, John Askew, John O'Callaghan, Jon O'Bir, Greg Downey and even Tiesto. Not to mention playing sets at clubs like Passion, Gatecrasher and making appearences across the pond in America. It was Activa that played the first Digitized, so it will be good to have him back.

Marcos Euphonic is the new addition to the Digitized Resident rota. Having written and remixed a staggering number of tracks over the last 5 years, he has forged himself an excellent reputation as a quality producer, remixer and DJ. As a DJ, mark has performed world wide at all of the biggest promotions including GodsKitchen, Gatecrasher, Passion, Dance Valley, Slinky and many more. Trips to Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, Holland, Germany and Canada are just a small example of how far and wide his music has appealed. In terms of production, Cosmicstring can be considered one of the most successful trancers of the past few years. Originally signed to Blue Print Audio in the UK, it was quickly picked up and signed to world no.1 DJ Paul Van Dyk's Vandit Records, and was PVD's track of the year. In 2006, Marcos - Ad Infinitum, was signed to Armin Van Buuren's A State Of Trance label, and Mark has also remixed several Apogee tracks for the same imprint. The follow up to Cosmicstring, Summer Solstice, was also signed to Vandit and his work has appeared on Drizzly, Druck, Captivating Sounds, Instant Music, 90 Degrees North, Bulletproof and too many more to list. Other high profile projects include remixes for Ian Van Dahl, Dumonde, DJ Scot Project, Andy Bagguley, JK Walker and many more. With licenses to hundreds of compilations across the world and radio sessions as well, Mark's ability to light up hi-fi's as well as dance floors is unquestionable. 2007 marks a significant new chapter in his career as he kicks off his first record label, Kerf Music. In conjunction with JK Walker, Mark hopes to help to bring through the next generation of stars as well as ensure that his music reaches people quicker and more effectively than ever before. With big projects still lined up on Armada, a new radio show on TranceAirwaves.com and DJ bookings to boot, 2007 will define him as a global force to be reckoned with in the music scene.

Jay K Walker began his musical interests at the age 11 after hearing the song "Unfinished symthony" by Massive Attack, also around the same time as the KLF. At the age of thirteen he began creating music with an old amiga 500 using a crude tracker program. Eventually he and studio partner Mark "Marcos" Dearden began accumulating hardware and a friend (Steve Knight) was so impressed that he passed the tracks onto his record company (Alpha Magic) who then proceeded to enlist John and Mark onto their Artist rosta. Over the next three years they built up a large collection of remix and original productions and with them a solid fan base. As time passed John has been asked to play all over the UK and abroad including recently a successful tour of Australia. Jay K Walker has often been described as "The UK's answer to the might Scot Project" and has received accolade from the scene's leading artists and producers.

Freesoup Started out in 2001 playing noisy German hardstyle to a very colourful crowd is not what most would call a positive beginning for this DJ. Fortunately playing dingy back rooms, receiving knock backs and actually listening to the critics has moulded Freesoup into one of the scene's most intelligent and technically gifted rising stars. In 2003 Freesoup gained his first residency at a local night called Fuse. Successful nights here alongside names such as Lee Haslam, Miss Behavin', BK, Ed Real, Matt Hardwick, GRH and more eventually led to appearances at Gatecrashers 'Nu Talent' events. By 2005 gigs in cities such as Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Rotherham, Doncaster, Manchester and his home town of York saw Freesoup gather a local hero status, eventually leading to an appearance on Riley & Durant’s Galaxy Nu-Breed radio show. 2006 brought with it the first release from Soup Recordings which was followed by another 3 very successful releases later that year. Flying the Soup Recordings flag high at a plethora of gigs including Passion in coalville eventually lead to an appearance on Paul Van Dyk's vonyc.com radio show. To end the year on a high Scotland's Inside-Out promoters announced that 'Freesoup' had won their DJ Competition and a set at their New Years Eve event alongside some of the biggest names in the industry. Its now 2007 and the focus is on Production work. Learning the tricks of the trade and receiving a helping hand from Rob "Activa" Stevenson brings with it Freesoup's first original track 'By Default'. Now signed to FiveAm Vibe for original and remix work in the future, the year has started out very well indeed. You can expect to hear more releases from Soup Recordings as well as the usual high standard performances at gigs around the country. At the age of just 21, the future looks very bright for this incredibly talented DJ & Producer.

Owen Clark is a part of the nu talent that is up and coming on the scene. His track 'Definitive' was cained by just about every top jock going last year including the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, M.I.K.E, Markus Schulz, Jon O'Bir, Bart Claessen, Agnelli & Nelson & Gareth Emery.

6 DJs in 6 hours........ chop freesoup off that list and give activa & marcos an extra half hr, 1 hr sets are a total waste of time imo

pretty good lineup all the same, hope it goes well for yous :)

I'm sorry you think that gaz but it's just my opinion that 6 Djs between 9-3 is a lot, i'd rather see marcos & activa play a decent length set, 2hrs each say plus 2 1hr warmups for the ressies, marcos & activa are class djs & proudcers and are worth so much more than an hour set each, and deserve it.

I could understand that if it was £10 entry but it's only £4.

It's not like yor paying a fortune or a standard door fee just to see Marcos & Activa and getting shunted by just seeing them for an hour. Fair enough them two on for an hour isnt gonna make you travel from Hexham but its the night before Global and for £4 you cant go wrong really.

£4 is a great price and with the styles of the djs on show even though an hour isnt the longest set you know the nights gonna progress.

    Owen - Prog
    Marcos - trance
    Activa - trance
    freesoup - tech trance
    Jay Walker - hard trance

after having a think i may surrender my set in the main room, as i can have a blast in the free preparty, this would give activa and marcos an extra half hour each.

    ill have words.

alright folks, to let you know wat the crack will be on the night will be.

i wont be playing on the night to give a little extra time to the dj's.

    so:

    9-10 - Owen Clark

    10 - 11 - Freesoup

    11 - 1 - Activa

    1 - 3 - Marcos Euphonic & Jay K Walker B2B (Exclusive digitized b2b set)

we were going to put soupo on in between but then marcos offered this to us and we had to grab the opportunity.

Why do trance nights insist on cramming as many names on as possible????
