Replacement Laptop screen Got one of these.... http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/toshiba-satellite_pro-satellite_pro_a100_908-laptop-3-n2.htm ....with a smashed screen. I cant see to do anything on it. Its got loads of music on it and other stuff. Anyone know if you can get replacement screens for them, how much they cost and how easy it would be to fit. cheers
you can get parts like that from ebay quite easily. Price and availability depends on the make and model. You could fit it yourself, depends on how savvy you are. If you're just after having the stuff off it, connect the laptop to an external monitor and you'll still be able to use it.
Ive tried connecting it to a monitor. You still need to change the settings in the control panel which i cant see. Had no luck on ebay so far. Guess ill have to keep trying
try pressing the Fn key and the key with the monitor icon on it (it's F5 on mine) whilst connected to the monitor. It should swap the output.
Don't pay to get it repaired professionally - last time we paid for a screen to be fixed it was £700. FFS. Could have had a new laptop for that.
company paid it. Shows the logic of some companies though, doesn't it. Won't buy a new laptop to replace a broken one as it's too expensive, then pays more to get one repaired.
I checked my Toshiba laptop, FN F5 is the keypress you need to make it swap over to using an external monitor. It did take an age for the monitor to sync to it though, so for a while I thought it wasn't working.
