    Nucastle Clubbing Forums Radio

Would you guys and gals want one?

There would be live DJs from this board and other areas of the world playing trance, house, breaks & techno. When there are no live DJs there would be a playlist.

Currently there is Shedradio.com, this is the mothership site that generally has speed garage, bassline house and hardcore, I run refresh.shedradio.com, this is the dedicated house & trance section of the site.

I believe there are enough people on this forum to make it work. I have been in talks with a few people on the board (admins etc) who are keen on the idea.

Let me know what you think as then I can talk more business with the admins and get this working.

    Thanks

Why would you want to call it nucastle clubbing forums radio if DJs from all over the world were playing on it.

Im sceptical wether this a plea for more DJs for this site as it is undersubscribed/lacking support in exchange for the nucastle clubbing forums name.

I would like to see it, if it were only DJs from this board.

    Nothing like being sceptical....

I'm trying to give DJs a chance who don't normally get a chance.

It would be a joint venture... Something for the users on this board to listen to. Yes they may have tunes but nothing beats listening to a DJ play live for you.

Yeh there is di.fm but they don't give the small-time DJs a chance at all.

    How does it work then,

    Same as the rest?

Download a piece of software, hooky your hardware up then mix live, or are mixes recorded.

I think availablity would be a big issue, most people have jobs/studies on this board.

As far as weekends go most of us get minging fri-sun so unless you want train wreck mixes thats probably off the menu.

    sorry for the defeatest attitude

Its ok, someone new to the board comes with ideas, its bound to happen.

The stream I pay for out my own pocket and I dont ask for anything in return.

I've DJ'd for years, played alongside people like Rob Tissera, Sarah G, Shan, Guffy etc but I've always found most the big DJs dont take time out for the people coming through. I want to help people... I love playing to a crowd and even though this is an online crowd, people still get a buzz from doing it.

Yeh it runs via winamp/shoutcast, very easy to set up. You're right most people do have jobs, thats why people DJ, when they can. People would choose a slot they could do each week or every other week and then play, if they couldn't make it then just leave a message and I'm sure someone else woudn't mind filling in.

You said the admins would have to sort it out, I took that as 'go to them'.

Sounds like a potentially good idea but a podcast is probably a better idea as I dont think i know anyone who actually listens to internet radio these days. With a podcast you can listen to the show at any time you want rather than being restricted by time.

I have made a few podcasts for myself and Kriece (amongst others) so can help out.....

i'll agree with you there, a daily or weekly podcast would be a better idea

See my gripe with podcasts is that not everyone likes to download things to their computer.

Perhaps have live DJs in the evening, then at the end of the week have a poll on the board for the fave show of the week to be podcasted.

Will you check the quality of the DJing, or will anyone who wants to be able to play?
