ive got a 1900x1200 resolution tv and need to set it up with my pc using s video for now.

the gfx card is a 8800gts

how do i do it, the resolution is shite at the mo through s video, how can i enable the gfx card to send more through, or is it because s video might not be able to handle owt bigger than 1200?

U need a HDMI/Component/DVI cable to use 1080p...

thought as much, i might nick one fro work, they had some dvi to vga ones, will that still work, faling that ill get meself a dvi to hdmi one

ive got another problem

my desktop goes off the edges of my tele after ive been in a game or somet and it wont come back out, im menna be able to use nvidias panning software to drag it back but it has no effect, the only way to sort it is to uninstall the drivers then reinstall them but its a total fuck on and not worth the hassle.

its a geforce 8800gts

have done mate, apparently thereres loads of people ahving agro with the new drivers,

and to top it off my pc is just restarting itself, i started getting blue screens and restarts when i had the top off the case and i pulled a monitor cable out, its done it ever since. ive checked the cpu voltages and the bios settings and it didnt do owt so i reset the cmos, i think me cpu is running underclocked at the mo aswell. sure its only on 1600 instead of 2400, fucken pc's never had this much agro with my mega drive

just rememebred i changed my memory timings to 4 4 4 12

That shouldn't affect resolution though dude.. it would affect your whole system

the random restarts wre due to the timings, the resolutions due to either monitor incompatibility or shite drivers, im hedging me bets on drivers

Don't bother with running different/tighter timings.. the difference is nanoseconds.. you'll never notice it.

I wasnt talking about your RAM timings. I was talking about the fact you have a 1900x1200 res TV with one of the best graphics cards available, yet you didn't know that a s-video cable can't take a HD signal.

i thought it was hence why i said an it not take more than 1200, this is my first venture into high def stuff.

Basically as Chandler said standard use cables now like scart, s-video and composite (yellow, red and white) will all only take standard def signals like tv or dvd. whilst hdmi, dvi, vga and component cables are all capable of hd signals (1366 x768+).

ive got a dvi to hdmi one but the drivers are arsing about and its pissing me off lol, gonna try a stint on vista when i get a router and new keyboard
