What a signing Perch has turned out to be.

the bbc were reporting that you didn't have 1 shot, in the first half...

doesn't matter, our keeper only had 2 saves to make

kept a clean sheet away from home in a tricky fixture, same again at home and be a bit more positive and we're in the 1/4 finals

Perch was excellent, as was Mbiwa and Haidara

fair play to them, proper fans, at least they didn't go all that way to see us get beat

love it when Mackems comment about our European campaign / European support...x

    great, isn't it?

always hits the spot, when away support is brought up..

some goals are required, if you're going to make a real go of this..to say that not one shot whatsoever in the first 45mins doesn't matter ?

this coming from a fan whose team hadn't scored a HOME goal in over a month and I quote, "a side who have the worst shots-on-target record in top-flight European football." after spending how much on 2 strikers?????? Exactly the sort of stat you need when going into a relegation battle with the worst team in the league who have just hit a bit of form x

and STILL above you, in the league?

i've just seen some more 'highlights'..if that cabaye effort was about all you lot could muster in 90 mins, if i were a fan who travelled there, i'd be asking for my money back..

Taylor's been outstanding since he came back, and Mbiwa has looked very impressive and is a more than capable replacement.

I'm sure the game plan wasn't to deliberately not have shots on target. I notice how you've not mentioned their lack of shots. Keeping a clean sheet was more important imo, so in that respect job done. We've got a great chance of progressing.

with the stats that i've mentioned above, are there many SAFC fans asking for their money back????????

if I was you i'd be more worried about your own side than NUFC, battered off the worst team in the league eh...

i am worried about us james..clear to see we're in freefall and if those below (like qpr) keep getting wins and points, i truly fear for us..

at the same time, are you slightly worried?

    Not at all

Would have been if we hadn't strengthened in January, but we did, and we did well.

Shows how good a squad we have when we can get a good draw in Europe, then make 7 changes ifor the next premier league next match and win it.

We had no Cabaye for 3 months, no Ben Arfa for 4 month, no Colo and Taylor for 2/3 months, all at the same time - any team would strggle losing that many key players at the same time, bit now they are all back (bar Colo) it makes such a differnce

Decent 2nd half performance after being outplayed in the 1st.

Deserved to win overall, bring on the 1/4s.

    Dare to dream.....

well done on getting through, but i'd say that the real test begins now..luck favours the brave and all that and luckily, their shot that hit the crossbar and your keeper, didn't go in..otherwise...

1 goal in over 3 hours play, isn't the sort of return that's gonna get you silverware in that competition.

interesting to see who you get in the draw and then, how many thousand 'fans' come out of the woodwork, who made no effort to go to earlier euro games..

5_8_6 thats a bit of a harsh review; Anzhi are a very good team with some world class players. It was very difficult to get through their defence even when they went down to 10 men in the second leg.

the few texts i got from mag mates last night, weren't brimming with confidence...like i said, fair play for getting through..i was saying to a fellow mackem last night that you lot keep battling until the end and i can't remember the last time we did that - maybe even city, about 14 months ago! haha..

let's see what today's draw brings eh? who ya fancy?

The one good chance they had. You failed to mention the numerous chances we had and just missed (Tiote just over, Marveaux unlucky, Taylor not getting enough on his shot)

you mean by keeping clean sheets and nicking a goal? a solid defence and goalscorers in midfield and attack that keep going for 90 mins? seems decent to me

yet we are into the 1/4 finals, so something is working, it's not all down to luck, as you mackems like to believe
worked for Chelsea in the Champions League last season, they played similar tactics

    anyone bar Spurs
