“I may have been the greatest physicist the world has ever known, giving the world this E = some kind of MC “squared” formula but can I keep
it up all night long is more the question? ................. well, in a NANO-particle of the BOSE - HIGSON the answer is – NO & let me tell YOU - Mrs EinstEin is not a happy raver, not 1 bit, well that was until this little bad boy ~ BLUE-TOX came into my life”
    – ALBERT EINSTEIN (sometime in the future of space & time)
Following the great forum fisticuff wars of several years ago (Sept ‘08 to be exact), when their much heralded events both clashed on the self same night & in between the ensuing years of drama and even more successful club shenanigans, the leading lights behind two of Newcastle’s longest running and much loved events; DETOX & GGM have decided to unite and join forces for the 1st time to present “RELATIVITY” , dedicated to a marathon of pure old school acid house, rave & techno hedonism; done in ONLY the way that they know how.
The line-up goes a little something like this...
ROOM 1: Old School, House & Techno
    SHADES OF RHYTHM (LIVE)
One of the true pioneering acts of the old school scene. This September marks the much heralded return to Newcastle following the trio’s jaw dropping live performance at DETOX, 18 months ago.
It is now over 20 years since the classic tracks of “Sound of Eden” and “Extacy” were destroying the dance floors of both the “REZERECTION” at Newcastle’s Mayfair and countless other raves around the country. Shades of Rhythm were constantly performing several times a week alongside the likes of the PRODIGY, NJOI and K-KLASS at massive rave events such as Raindance & Fantazia through to clubs like the Astoria and the legendary Hacienda.
They were signed up by major label ZTT and in between partying and gigging the threesome managed to clock up considerable success on the live dance scene and in the UK National charts with “The Sound of Eden” getting into the top 30 and the “Extacy” ep making the top 20.
    MARK ARCHER (eX ALTERN8)
Mark Archer started his production career in 1988, when along with Dean Meredith, he ventured up to the newly opened Blue Chip Studios in his home town of Stafford. Originally starting off as a hip hop / sample house group called Rhythm Mode D, they recorded a few tracks for the studios own label before they branched out with different styles including acid house and techno.
Mark Archer was a founder member of Bizarre Inc, before starting up a new side project under the name of NEXUS 21, who had a string of releases on renowned labels such as Network and R&S Records, famously being one of the first acts to receive a remix by the legendary DJ Carl Craig.
At the same time as this studio and production work, Mark began a side project and the rest as they say is history as this went on to become one of the biggest names in RAVE history; ALTERN8.
Now dj’ing under his own name, Mark Archer continues to keep the sound of the old skool, acid house, break beat, house and techno driving the dance floors wild world-wide.
Mark makes a long overdue return to Newcastle after playing one of the sets of the night at the Detox Forever Autumn event back in October 2011.
    HUMAN RESOURCE (DJ SET)
Towards the end of 1990 at a rave in Rotterdam, four guys who knew each other from where they lived agreed on doing some tracks together. Guido and Jasper brought some synths to where Johan and Robert’s studio was; Rohan’s bedroom & HUMAN RESOURCE were born!
They created the track “Dominator” with accompanying rap vocals and R&S Records, the label that released Joey Beltram’s “Mentasm”, secured a license for its release in the rest of the world.
“Dominator”, with its hoover-driven bass line and infectious “I wanna’ kiss myself” lyrics sound-tracked many a raver’s night of hedonistic debauchery in the early 90’s, at the likes of Rezerection and Nocturnal. 21 years later, the most famous rave track ever gets re-release with a host of remixes in various styles from top artists around the world, including a remix by our very own DJ Smurf.
After the release of their second single “The Joke” they became quiet for a while and the guys invested most of the money that they had made from “Dominator” into a big new studio and they started their own record company called XSV. With the new sound created by Paul Elstak firmly in their minds, they created a new harder label K.N.O.R, releasing gabber classics such as Cyclopde’s ‘Bad Motherfucker’, Reye’s ‘Soy Innocente’ and there own track ‘Fuck Them’.
Human Resource went on to produce a second album showcasing this new sound which was spreading around the world. By 1995 Jasper had quit and was replaced by Sander, cue the recording of Sander doing Dutch nursery Rhymes in his own specially mentally deranged, but “oh so funny way”, which ultimately resulted in this track finding its way to number 9 in the Dutch singles charts.
Unfortunately, not long after that the group line up started to disintegrate again and everyone went their own separate ways except for Guido who had put Human Resource into the fridge, awaiting the right time to restart the project. Human Resource restarted in 2003 together with Zeno (former MC of T99) and Maurice (of POING fame) and a year later even Stephen Scheltema aka Predator was, albeit for a very short time, a member of Human Resource.
In 2005, a new festival carrying the name of the classic track “DOMINATOR” was being held and this led the way for a new set of remixes and the Stunned guys, Outblast and Angerfist lifted the track firmly into the new Millenium.
Fast forward to 2012 and Human Resource are still going strong with Guido still as the heartbeat of the band joined from time to time by founding member Jasper & an MC.
