The Genius's at NUFC have only put a 10 million pound buy out clause in Ba's contract.

I wonder how commited to the north east he really is.

Andrew Carrol was commited wasnt he but you got loads of money for him didnt you.

    Aaaaaaaaaaah

But you sold a player who is happy to stay in the north east forever. Thats priceless as you will find out AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN.

35 million reasons he should have stayed, and number one is No player is happy to stay up here once they start playing well. Look at the history books... Saint Alan is the only man to buck that trend and he linked with your best performaces in recent history.

You will keep hitting your heads on bricks walls YET you will still come back with "hey we sold him for 35 mill" its not as if the team saw any of it is it? Your bragging about making Big Mike richer. Take a rain check you lower class Barbour basher

I was gutted when AC left but the with Barton going to go & none of our wingers able to supply the balls he needs the AC would of been naff for us as he is for Liverpool. Barton playing right midfield & The Big AC up front were a dream combo separate they are not as good esp with Big Kev tucked in behind.

When Liverpool spend £50 million on Hendo & AC the North East big two are not in a position to knock that back thats a fact, life & shite.

    haha ;)

I'm not defending him in the slightest as I think Ashley's transfer luck is on borrowed time. However, we have to take circumstances as they are. We sold a totally unproven striker for a record breaking fee and signed a replacement for free who is currently the 2nd top goal scorer in the league.

Would we have been in any better position had we held on to Carroll (even Barton)? Probably not.

I'll start crying in my festive bake when the wheels fall off again. Until then...

Unproven Striker? He 'was' a international many declared UNPLAYABLE in most of your early games. esp the Arsenal.

    Keep on keeping on.....

What difference does a balance sheet mean to your club? Your owner has pocketed the lot.

What would you rather have? A very rich owner who dosnt spend or a Local born loyal Goal Scorer ready to spend his life in the black and whites?

I am not saying Mike didnt get a great money for him, .... what i am saying it was terrible value for Newcastle United Football Club.

It means a hell of lot in todays game!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Financial_Fair_Play_Regulations

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/18/manchester-city-biggest-ever-loss

You only need to look as far as teams like Everton, Villa, The Scum (77 players in 5 seasons achieving a top 10 Premiership finish once) etc... to prove how Managers that have no respect for finance or wage bills can ravage a Club and cement them mid/lower table, forced to field 11 overpaid underachievers week in, week out.

We haven't been stupid in the transfer market, nor with the money we've brought in - tight most may call it, granted. However we've rewarded young prospect with contract extensions and brought in players that have achieved above and beyond what their counterparts contributed.

We've crafted a young squad who have a fight in them, want to play football, play to the final whistle and fight for 1st team football instead of resting on their laurels. There's a different culture up there now and for the first time since I can remember it's not money motivated. The transition in 2 seasons has been immense. For me it's the most exciting times as a fan since the mid 90's.

£35m for a player with 2 League goals this season.

I think if any of the top 5 were to start waving money in the Summer it would be difficult to keep him.

But as we've seen with all recent departures: Nolan, Barton, Enrique, Carroll the grass isn't always greener...

Nor can we keep players who want to be away.

We haven't missed him and Liverpool don't play him? I'll let you decide who got value for that £35m.

you havent missed him cos yr replacement who will leave is doing great, liverpool dont play him cos they dont play andy carrol football.

yes all is rosey in the garden at the moment, thats never been in question.

its a year or so down the line that Newcastle United will miss selling their priceless golden boy.

but only time will tell..... but ill be reviving this thread to ram down your neck if the boards still about and i still get a kick from it when i am in my fortys

I was sorry to see AC go as he was playing well for us and looking like he could turn into a top player. But £35m was impossible to turn down and was a huge risk for Liverpool as he was totally unproven with only a decent 1/2 season under his belt. The move to Liverpool has been a disaster for him although there is still time for him to come good. We may not have splashed the full £35m back on players but we are in a good place financially and the limited purchases that have been made have all turned out well. Rumours are that AC is coming back on loan - that would be interesting!

Ba will most likely leave in the summer. The temptation of joining one of the big clubs will be too big. But everyone suffers from loss of talent to the top teams

AC back on loan would be ideal, MA would even fork out some money to buy him back at 75% discount I bet.

As for the people saying NUFC arnt playing football AC would benefit from are talking shite, they are getting a name for "direct" and "route one" as every week gos by

The flight & delivery Barton (a player who played most of his career as CM) is very different to what our wingers put in now.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has claimed that Demba Ba's release clause is actually around half the £10m mooted over the weekend, which could be set to spark a transfer frenzy.

    from .com haha

"It's nice that the Pearly King of Tottenham is concerned about our welfare, even though he's now just weeks away from a court appearance over charges of tax evasion. Whether there's a release clause from that is unclear...."
