There has been lots of speculation over the last several days about what may or may not be happening to the DETOX event this weekend.

Well we will try to explain what’s been going on as simply as possible.

Within the last 4 to 5 days we received a call from the “people” who run the DEN informing us that we no longer had the venue despite having a contract in place and being booked into the events diary for the last 6 months and having had all of our promotion: posters, flyers, tickets etc. out for the last 3 months. Despite repeated calls to the owner and area manager of the group that owns the club we have not been given any kind of plausible explanation as to why this decision has been taken.

Naturally we explained to them that they couldn’t do this and that we stood to lose thousands of pounds if we were forced to pull the event. To cut a long story short we were told that the contract we had “wasn’t worth the paper it was written on” and that they had taken the decision to install a weekly Saturday night event in there called “HABIT” from LEEDS, who from my sources have promised the owners that they could fill the club 52 weeks of the year (Laughable we know)

Now if the memory serves correctly this is the same “HABIT” night that tried to run events at the CUT a few years ago and ultimately went back to Leeds with their tail between their legs.

To say that the stunt these scumbags have pulled is out of order is probably a massive understatement. In short it’s absolutely scandalous, but it’s only to be expected from a bunch of urchins who “allegedly” empty the brand vodka from the large bottles and fill it up with bargain basement rubbish and the self same low life’s who “allegedly” collect the empty water bottles inside their clubs, fill them up with tap water and then sell them back to the punters again.

Thankfully the team at DETOX have a 6th sense for this kind of bull **** and we got a gut feeling about 2 weeks ago that the DEN were up to no good when another promoter was told they could not have one of the basement rooms at the club.

So in secret we have been working a back-up plan that would kick in should the worst happen.

To keep it brief DETOX Forever Autumn is definitely happening on Saturday 15th October 2011.

Since DETOX and a host of other promoters have been given their marching orders from the DEN we have now moved the event to a fully licensed multi room venue at “secret location” in Newcastle. (Updates to the event line-up will follow)

DETOX have been here before with other none believers who thought they could stop the juggernaut.

Well you don’t run a much loved event for 10 years in a multitude of unusual venues without learning a thing or two about circumnavigating this kind of underhand tactic. At the end of the day the powers that be at the DEN / LEGENDS are driven by greed and that in the long run will be their undoing.

DETOX is about a MELT~ing pot of music and the characters that attend. We don’t play politics with mainstream club venues that have love for One thing and one thing only; “CASH”.

We will announce the secret location with directions on Friday of this week. Anyone still turning up to the cesspit of greed that is the DEN will be re-directed to the new venue by our lovely promo people.

DETOX FOREVER ~ this AUTUMN...same time - different place. See you on the dance floors.

I have heard they allegedly sent heavies up to threaten the other HABIT boys toward the end of the much loved habit. That kind of story is re-affirmed by what has happened to us.

their event is a grade a plastic fantastic steroid boy and muscle mary perma tan event. It will hurtle toward oblivion

I hear they anly had 200-300 in last saturday despite putting out the spin that there was 600 in.

DETOX and FUTURE are better off out of there.
