I herds it new entertainment bit is complete (or near) & Wax:On are dumping Digital to go there. The venue is meant to be really nice as well.

I didn't know there was going to be one. Is it where the old Newcastle Uni used to be?

Fair one Wax On. Digital has absolutely had its day now.

Aye, they've been giving that (and the whole area around it) a massive facelift. Last time I was up there was for the Generator Sessions talks and it looked really good then - they hadn't finished it at the time though.

More decent venues can only be a good thing. More choice and hopefully a bit of healthy competition will force venue owners to raise their game (in cosmic's case by having a refit and getting shot of that buzzkilling glass collecting cunt).

So was it the same venue, or had they knocked it down and started from scratch? If so, was it still in the same place?

    Give us some details Conners.

The uni was easily my favourite venue in town.

10 years ago you didn't have the likes of the Gate, or the 'Diamond Strip' to soak up thousands of aspirational late night revellers.

Other towns like Leeds and the like don't have to compete with this, and you get a better, more varied set of nights out as a result.

The toon won't get that back, unless we have another crushing phase of the recession and all these places go under. Sad but i think it's true.
