Rumours have begun flying around that Blackout FM (BOFM) are the same company as Detox. (Popular Newcastle dance event) I would like to dispel this right now as it is causing problems for both ourselves and Detox. BOFM not only has nothing at all to do with the running of Detox or vise versa but also has no such affiliations with any other organisation, night, DJ or company. As such BOFM stands as a totally autonomous, unique entity and answers to no one but happily works along side like minded entities. As such we are totally impartial. BOFM has 4 staff members. None of which have any part in the ownership, planning or structure of any event in the world (including Detox.) It must be said that Old Skool music is a huge part of Detox and is the ONLY part of BOFM. Both organisations are based within the North East of England also. So it stands to reason just like two like minded local people would go on to become good friends our totally independent ventures are doing this also. Detox can be of great benefit to BOFM and BOFM has already promoted Detox heavily in its second show. (Much like we would do for any other Old Skool event world wide.) However this DOES NOT mean Detox owns even a small part of BOFM or have any say or influence no matter how big or small in how we run things. In the spirit of keeping "old skool" from becoming "forgotten about skool" BOFM will continue to seek out alliances with like minded organizations, DJs and heavily promote them. Were not fussy if this is in Newcastle, Sunderland, or on the Moon. We make absolutely no apologies for our totally ethical goal of making Old Skool music main stream again by uniting with other like minded organization to achieve this goal. Hiya Conway, Its not on the board. Its more the word on the street and its starting to become problematic for both Detox and ourselves. Like Chinese whisper. In my post here I have set the record straight straight from the horses mouth. If no one has heard the rumour then even better. As it is totally and utterly false. It is extremely damaging to us for people to think we are owned by Detox or anyone else.

No not a close association mate, they are saying were one and the same company and Detox has set up BOFM simply to create unauthordox tactics to advertise itself. This comment in its self is also very short coming re the quality of our shows what take around 50 hours to produce each! To go to all that work just to promote an allready popular night belittles out brand. There is much more to BOFM than promoting Detox as im sure promotor MELT would back me on. So, the reason were being up front and telling everyone that we are one and the same company is becuase were not one and the same at all, hence this thread. If have made it sound like we have a problem having a close association with Detox then I havent communicated BOFMs view point effectively. Please let me clarify: - We are EXTREMELY proud to be great friends with Detox. We also hope and will work at ensuring that this relationship will last a very long time. Anything we can do to help Detox we will. Personally I am quite proud a night such as Detox exists in my neck of the woods. However it needs to be noted for reasons given that we are a totally individual organisation and not simple a Detox promotion vessel.

Thanks mate. Ive been quite taken a back by all of this. Proper knocked the shine of things TBH. But thats me personally. Professionally - BOFM will be broadcast on the first of each month no matter what and will continue to be great allies of Detox also. Infact I believe all this BS will only serve to strengthen us
I understand how it all made you feel, dont sweat it mate, theres only one person that's come out of recent events smelling like shit and its certainly NOT you and what your doing. Dont lose heart as so many have done over the past 20 odd years.
Thanks man. Ill never loose heart. I know this sounds ultra corny but the golden days (88-92) are in my blood and have to come out. BOFM is a way of making this happen. If we get zero subscribers or a million the show will go out on the first of each month from this date on. Hence me aggressively promoting other events and guest mixes etc. I have to do all I can to keep the golden days alive. Yes, I think im in a time warp and obsessed too - haha. (You should see my music making studio lol Like a museum.)
what rigsby said mate x 2 *dj egos* and *infighting* kill scenes, events and dj careers ......that is all. Look at any event that has come and gone and you will find evidence of the above. Ever wondered why detox is still running after 10 years. Because any of the *above* are stamped out as soon as they rear their "ugly" head
true but mrs melt keeps that in check mate lol club events run better when they run as a dictatorship plenty of amazing nights that were run as democracies have fallen apart cos no one ever reahces a decision lol
