Yeah i completely agree with that.

As a child of the internet, 14-15 years down the line you soon become overloaded with information. The confusion of infinite choice, information and stimulation starts to change the way you think, feel and react to things.

Its even more prevalent in younger people today, with things like facebook having profound effects on cognition. People are so used to the idea of simple childlike interaction with the world around them ('poke' people, 'like' this, add/remove friends) and the idea of instant gratification, that it affects their psychology.

Things like mass grief or outrage when big things 'happen' are all relatively new concepts compared to a long time ago, and the by product of social conditioning, media and everything. In a relatively short amount of time you can have a population taking to the streets demanding war, or demanding peace depending on how you sell things to them. One week we want to be a part of europe, and then the next week we want out. Petrol is too expensive if the Sun says it is, but then if it doesnt we just go along with everything. Its pretty facinating.

I dont think we are as 'free' as we like to think we are. No more free than children in a nursery who might have a load of toys set around them to keep them occupied and 'FREE' to choose which ones to play with. But those bars are always there, and as time goes by its getting harder and harder for people to even see this.

    Very true.

A mate was telling me yesterday that his 9 year old daughter asked him to wash his car ready for the weekend so he could take her to a birthday party...

    Aye it's true! Madness

Ha Mick - I like the line...'theres always someone worse off than you'. Easy way to make someone feel better about things - by thinking about someone with no life or a country with zero technology.
