i think everyone should just get themselvesdown to their local cash converters and get a nice shiny (almost) new pair of billy no make beltys and see if that won't sort the men from the boys! Anyone who can use those for an hour without losing a beat deserves to be hosed off by wor chezza and given a residency somewhere top class on the bigg market! Or am i missing the point here?!

I suppose the point you are trying to make (badly! ;) ) is that there needs to be some level of 'pure' skills when it comes to dj'ing, before you go out and play to people ...

... the problem is that we are beyond that level in this day and age. Maybe it was a 'skill' to beatmatch back in the vinyl days and yes its something you have to learn to do on cdj's (its miles easier and quicker tho) but the days of beatmatching being how a DJ's technical skills are judged are long gone.

As time goes by, less and less dj's are spending their time beatmatching tunes....

my response was purely tongue in cheek, i'm all for technology when it's used creatively like you do yourself. Some people however just put a song list in and let it crack on and do pretty much nothing which can be disappointing when people are being paid large fees for effectively doing nothing. I'm still happy using cdj's, used to love using vinyl but obvioulsy that's dead now. Never really had full use and time of media based alternatives yet so i sit on the fence as far as they are concerned

So ... from what you've said here, and correct me if i'm wrong, is that using traktor/ableton in a DJ competition means you won't find talented DJ's?

    So .... Talent = Skill ?

.... so, i'm wondering how the 'talent' is found? What defines a talented DJ?

You have to buy CDJ2000's, a DJM800/2000 burn CDs & beatmatch them on CDJs. Everybody knows that is SKILL/TALENT.
