Just seen Che post this on FB!! Would usually be over the moon but by all accounts they've gone quite mundane.

Regardless of how mundane they may have become I will most likely be there if I can afford it above and beyond are legends probably the main reason I got into trance in the first place.

I've seen them within the last 2 years and they were spot on, had a mint night. Just some people reckon they've gone practically totally progressive playing mainly stuff off their Anjunadeep label. Be interesting to see who they get to support.

I loved them back in the day, they havent changed much but i dont like their brand of floaty innoffensive poptrance anymore. They really havent progressed at all really.

Used to love them a year and a half ago, before they completely changed. Anjunabeats as a label has gone massively downhill in my view. Their radio show actually played decent trance/progressive house tunes, now its just filled with a lot of Anjunacrap from their label that just sounds the same to me.

Having said that, would like to see who else would be playing on that night.
And will be going, due to the "Theres nothing else to do on that night" factor. Such a hypocrite I am hey. ;D

I saw A&B for the first time last year at Global.

As with all the other DJ's in the Boom Box tent that day who all played trance, they were good - A bit floaty towards the start but picked it up for their second hour.

Obviously with the tech trance fans on this board (the vocal ones) they might be too soft sounding for them, but you could accuse the Tyas/Patterson/Askew type DJ's of playing similarly samey tracks to fit with their fanbase.

That remix of 'On a good day' or whatever it is called, still rates as one of THE tunes of last year IMO.

No doubt it will be busy. Its a big name booking - and that's what the kids want.

On A Good Day was good for the summer like, I loved it at the time but the Daniel Kandi remix was far superior. A&b do have a huge fanbase and of course digital will be at least 3/4 full for this, but they just don't appeal to me anymore. Also, it's in march which will be getting near the time im assuming DS will be on. I know where I'd rather spend my cash.

Radio show is still quite good but they do play a lot of the anjuna deep stuff. totally different to what they play out though, it's just a pity they include so many of their own not so good remixes too often.

Its all horses for courses tho anyways. A&B are a brand in their own right the way they run things - but with their legacy behind them and production credentials, who can argue eh.

I can't see any difference between most trance podcasts or radio shows other than a slight leaning towards certain producers or vocal/techy type trance.... Its almost like choosing a variation on a burger from Burger King - fundamentally the same thing with a few extras added or taken away depending on what you fancy.

I think Menno De Jong and Tyas's podcast for me personally cover as much as my ears can take. I wouldnt see the value in listening to any more of them for variation. Ditto for all others out there.

I think this night will do well, because people like big room DJ's playing a big club, with a big atmosphere - which is what trance is all about these days surely?

I love Above & Beyond, it irks me that most the stuff on their Anjunabeats label gets called progressive though. It's about as far away from progressive trance as you can get.

Buzzing they're on in Newcastle though, hopefully they'll knock out some driving trance. I'm there.
