    It't not simple maths. It works because when you have got your final number, the automatic thing to do is move the cursor to that number to find the symbol. Whatever symbol you move the cursor to is the one that appears in the 'crystal ball'.

    Why has it got anything to do with multiples of nine? I know that works for the elephant from Denmark thing, but this one doesn't tell you to multiply anything by nine.

    if you add any 2 digit number together and subract its parts you always get a multiple of 9 which is why all symbols which are multiples of 9 are the same.

    You're right! Have done it without moving the cursor and it was right. It was just that when I first looked at it, I tried moving my cursor over random symbols without doing any of the calculations and it seemed to come up with them each time. I know you don't have to click on the numbers, but it might have recognised the cursor pausing over certain ones.

    Will have to have a think about how this works!

    then it changes the symbols everytime, so a different symbol comes up.

    Yep, Dunc is right. I couldn't work out how that would work at first as I was getting different symbols each time. Then I realised that they change each time you do it. :dunce:
