Whats your thoughts on John Kelly (edited by Smart E)

Is it just me or has John Kelly become Shite? Went to the Shack to see him the other week and his mixing and strange choice of tuneage really baffled me!! I promised i would never go see him again after he told us all to "fuck off and go home" at crasher. Sorry kids but i wont be at Promise that weekend. If he plays Hennes and Cold with star 69 over the top AGAIN!!! some body hoy a bottle at him!!

erm everyoine is hating mr kelly lately but me?!?!?!? I still always have a wikkid night when he's on - I've only seen him at promise and crasher, I really think he suits promise - would never go to shack as the club has lost it in my eyes... it used to be a better club than promise, but promise has shot leagues ahead of it, for line-ups, crowd, atmosphere and even venue.

Last time he played promise everyone said he was cheesey as fook... but I had a wikkid night, he made me dance - he put a smile on my face and at the end of the day - isn't that what he's there for?

I have to agree with you there geeza, I’ve seen him at Gatecrasher, Promise and Manumission that I can remember and he's very good at getting any club jumping.

I think that saying he is shit is taking it too far he may not play to your taste but he still is talented and knows what he is doing in a DJ box. He comes across as less of a pigeonholed DJ, he plays what he likes and hopes the punters will like - good on him.

He is also very popular and always pulls a crowd whenever I've seen him so he must be doing something right.

Yeah i have to agree with SmartE & Rob
ive always had a good night when ive seen him play, he always gets a class atmosphere and his sets are different from most trance DJ's.
    Never had any complaints.....

isnt the point of a message board though to air your opinions? every message about john kelly on here is worthy methinks...after all if a dj told u to 'fuck off and go home' they probably wouldnt be up there with your faves would they?

I agree with both mark and sloppy....

The site does need feedback, mark needs to know who we like and dislike... but there are ways of doing this. A lot of the DJ's who play promise also check the site - not only this but they are also friends of marks... if someone called you a wanker, it would probably piss me off :D

I think we should all air our opinions on dj's - but maybe not so insultive - constructive criticism is great and I know mark would never have a go at someone for stating why they dislike a dj in a more positive light.. I think it pisses him off when people put up post like "John kelly is a pile of shite".... I know I've put up posts on why i dislike DJ's like Seb Fontaine, Fergie, Oakenfold and I've never had any grief off mark.

My advice would be by all means state why you like/dislike dj's but maybe with in a more positive light, I personally don't see a problem with crashjims post - I think it was just his title that annoyed mark... we're all entitled to our own opinions and mark wants to know our opinions, it is a business after all.

I'm also positive crashjim never meant to step on anyones toes :D He's welcome to his own opinion and he's welcome to voice more on the site... just remember a lot of the dj's do check the site... if you do criticise try to do it as tactfully as possible... the last thing you want is John kelly laying a six pack of whoop ass on you next time he plays promise ;)

Well Said Smart E, lets hope that you wont have to edit titles again because from now on peeps will be a bit more constructive in their comments.

I can see why Mark gets pissed off, just because John Kelly is famous does not mean that saying stuff like that wont hurt his feelings and put him off Promise.

    Now come on, play nice!

A bit late to jump into this I know but I just wanted to add that Corvin/John Kelly/Matt Hardwick was probably my second best night @ Promise and I thought he played a cracking set. Really looking forward to seeing him again @ Promise and the arena.

    ????????
John Kelly has been wank for at least the past year....how long did he try to live of the second trip & fire wire?? He's always been known for playing strange tunes but lately he’s lost the plot. Playing tunes like that Police one?? and Wooooh Black Betty??? Last time he was at Promise even my mates who r hardcore Kelly fan said he was dire.

IN MY OPINION HES CHEESY SHITE.

PS. AND THIS IS FOR WHAT MESSAGE BOARDS ARE FOR........THIS IS ALREADY ONE OF THE MOST EDITED AND COMMUNITST BOARD AROUND BUT YOU CANT STOP PEOPLE FROM GHAVING A OPINION!!!!!!!

i really dont think john kelly would stop playin at promise because of one or two people on the message board not likin what he does...after all he plays at the club when its full and has the crowd jumpin....isnt that a better indication of how liked he is rather than a post on here?

just another point though...jules plays at crasher all the time yet the whole crasher message board slags him off and infact when he plays at the club usually the only people dancin are the shermans and the slappers:rolleyes: think how wanted he must feel
