Well done Ireland Unlucky lads! Dunno why Kilbane took a penalty tho? He wasn't having his best game. Do Duff and Quinn not take penalties for their clubs?
kilbane is just a shocking player.. nearly every sunderland fan i know dislikes him. never rated him, ireland were unlucky but in the end i think they were still screwed over by roy keane and with him, would probably of beaten the spanish.
As much as my heart goes out to the Irish, I've got Spanish players in my world cup dream team so I kinda wanted them out. soz, but show me the money
Yeah, but they've never had a Roy Keane situation before. I think McCarthy proved that they didn't really need them in the four games they played.
surely if the keane situation hadn't happened, the irish side would of been stonger and in a better position to go further? however it did happen, and therefore the squad was weakened.. i really don't think that him leaving, formed a stronger team spirit that outweighed the loss of a player of his ability?
don't know him personally so i won't call him a twat.. although he did display some "twattish" behaviour of the highest order still doesn't take away from the fact he was and still is the best irish player for his generation!
He did behave like a spoilt brat but there is no wai Ireland were better without him. Ok they played well but they would have been even better with him. Before he was thrown out i thought they were potential semi-finalists or who knows? However they just didnt have anyone who could dominte the midfield. Holland and Kinsella are decent players but they are not even close to Keanes class.
they played brilliantly, they never stopped, they were lucky on a few occasions, but i think at least they deserved to get another goal in normal time. loop x
