Van Dyk/Hardwick/Sheridan @ Crasher, London last night... .... christ im a mess right now :spangled: Went to see the lord of the trance last night with some fellow promise'rs last night at Heaven in London. Had tickets booked from a few weeks back last night so i expected to get right into the club when we got there about 10 o clock - Guess again... there must have been 2000 people outside the club with an equal number inside - It took us 1 hour and 15 minutes just to get in ... the beer was wearing off by this time so i needed liquid refreshment asap to get me back in the mood. Got in at 12 midnight and holy mother of god the place was absolutely RAMMED TO THE GILLS. It was TOO busy i thought - The dancefloor was so full the only way to dance was vertically You could also tell how hot it was cause the places where the airconditioners werent blowing were like a sauna - it was the busiest ive ever seen a club in a long time. Heaven was a nice club - quite an "industrial hanger" feeling inside, and the lasers are incredible,... spent a good chunk of the night just staring into the wobby green tube shit they do The crowd was an interesting bunch - seems like crasher attracts people a good 5 years younger than the average clubs ive been in. Its probably the first time since the sound city 1998 thing at the arena in newcastle where ive experienced the "superclub" atmosphere. Dont think it will ever be my thing, compared to the more underground feel of Promise and the Gallery, but it was a good refresher course non the less. So we all headed up to the funky room to begin with to catch a breather before joining the madness...... ... Hardwick 11-1am Played a good set i thought. Quite interesting to hear him banging the trance out so early on, im used to hearing the more uplifting trance stuff down here starting at 3-4am so the place was just going off it from the word go.... The sound system sounded like it was turned down though, which was wierd. All the usual trance stuff i thought - cant remember anything he played hehe .... Paul Van Dyk 1.30am-4am Stunning show from PVD i thought. Havent seen him since promise back in 2002 where i thought he was a bit boring, but this time he was bang on form. Very pumping stuff, and had his typical stony expression on for all his set which was "well ard" His mixing was tight as fuck too and he was doing his entire set off a Powerbook and Final Scratch... sounded brilliant to me. The place was just "ganning off" the entire time ... Adam Sheridan 4-6am Reminded me alot of his essential mix - Started trancey, then into some techno and hard trance. Looked like he was concentrating alot through his entire set ,but ive heard he has a PVD like expression when he plays. Had the place full right up until 6am ... Ive never been in a club thats been that full right up until the end. Was dancing with everyone and Adams Girlfriend the whole time through his set and had a great time. ... left the club at 6am, battered but had a cracking night - The trip back to my house was the usual nightmare (freezing cold - 1 hour on various tubes and trains) and im suffering today but it was a class night out for the music and the company. Thanks to Orbit/Spence/Foster/Breakdown and Irish Gill for a great night!
It sounds like it was when i went to the first GC London when he played that night as well ! It always gets well overfull apparently, the ceiling pisses on ya all night long and if ya not on the dancefloor early then there's nee point in trying to get on - the resteraunt at the back fucks ya head up well and truly when ya :spangled: - if thats still there ! Its a quality club, well good sound system etc but they let themselves down by overfilling it and when i went by letting in too many shit bags who come 12am have there tops round there waist and are looking for naughties Pleased you and all had a good night anyways Im suprised at the way the line up is but i reckon if Van Dyk's headlining then he's probably requested that Adam Sheridan is on after his set cos he rates him so highly
says on hardwicks board the sound system fucked when he was on the moniters went off. also says he wasnt mixing his tracks just cutting them in at the last beat
Hmmm that might explain why loads of sheridans mixes sounded like he was just starting one tune at the end of another at the start of his set......
From hardwick himself "first of all let me say that the atmosphere in heaven last night was amazing and the crowd were fantastic- thanks to everyone who made it down. It was, however, the most difficult three hours of my DJ career as I had real problems with the sound system. I even had to play the last 30 mins of my set without monitors which meant no mixing....so I had to just drop tunes in at the end of the last one. Thankfully the tech guys managed to sort it before Paul went on. I was still taken back by the atmosphere in the place and when Paul held my hand up in the air at the end of my set and I got such an amazing reaction from the crowd -it made it all worth while!! Ill get a review and tracklisting up on the board at some stage this week. cheers guys..."
Amazing.. Just got back from London last night.. Heaven was amazing.. third time I've been and the place just keeps gettin better.. Can't believe the sound system wasn't workin for Matt, his set sounded good to me.. certainly wouldn't of guessed he was just cuttin the tracks at the right time to make it sound good.. my hatt goes off to him!! PVD was outstanding! I'm a massive fan of his anyway but he played a blinder.. I can remember a few tunes - Crush (Dunno what rmx though, never heard it b4!) Holdin on to nothing (the place went beserk!) Praiseworthy tunes Time of our lives (Again not sure of the rmx..) Floorfilla Theres probably more, but I aint sure of the names right now. Didn't stay for much of Adams set.. seemed to start off in his usual manner though.. I managed to get a few photos of the place.. I'll get em up asap.. think there will only be bout 3 worth puttin up though. Oh and I got to meet the man himself (PVD).. well chuffed!!!
seems like on the whole the nite was class. hope this means crasher will do a lot more events this year then..
