There are usually only limited numbers of cheap tickets, many of which go long before the 14 days in advance. If you want cheap ones, book as soon as you know when you are going as you may not get them otherwise.

I live in between brum and bristol and it cost me £6 single last time I went home :D

trainline is shit and sells about 2 tickets a year that are cheap.. my advice is dont buy one... virgin are wank and never check for tickets anyway..

if u do decide to pay it is usually cheaper to by tickets in this way - newcastle - york, york - sheffield, sheffield - derby, derby -brum u will save about 20 quid altogether... :)

i worked for GNER for just over a year, i took bookings over the phone,

book as far in advance as you can mate, the sooner the cheaper! They only make a certain amount of cheap tickets available per train, (depending on the time of day etc)

say theres 800 seats on a train, 80 are sold at the cheapest available, then 100 more will be sold at the next price up and so on.
tickets go on sale roughly 6-8 months in advance so they sell out very quickly 14 days is nowt when they have been selling for months

All train companys sell each other tickets at exactly the same price........ i say ring up its much better than doing it on the net!!!

ring them (08457 225 225) but get a quote then ring back for another (some agents are shite, others look properly and try harder to get a cheap ticket 4U)

    hope you get sorted

I travel down to Shropshire every 2 weeks and have to book at least 6 weeks in advance to get cheap tickets.

You can never get the 14day advance tickets for some reason, I usually manage the 7 or 3 day ones.

Use www.gner.co.uk/eticketing_frame.htm but word of advice, but two singles and not a return! The site does not work the cheapo tickets into their return prices ;)

the 3 day, 7 day and 14 day advance tickets are only sold as singles
