    exactly!

People tip waiting staff but they dont tip shop assistants

A hair cut is expensive enough as it is without an additional £2 tip

Tipping taxi's is ridiculous especially when people tip them for being sound...."congratulations on being a nice person, heres £3"

    Depends.

Was at wagamama's last night - and my food came last, after others had nearly finished theirs.... so even though the waiter did nothing 'wrong', i didnt tip. In the states they work for their tips BIG STYLE (including making sure your drinks come quickly, and they let you know about your food) so i have no qualms about doing it there ....

.... In this country we seem to have adopted some kind of knee jerk tipping policy, even for terrible service.

Im paying them for doing more than the bare minimum - which is to take orders and bring them to you.

I'll tip for service that exceeds my minimum expectations - not just polite service.

If my drinks take too long to come, then thats not good service to me - if my food takes too long, same...

.... most tips get put in a pot and re-allocated to everyone, so why should we pay just because the waitress was fit, or polite.

I don't usually tip hairdressers - it costs enough anyway! I will tip good service in restaurants, and taxi drivers will usually get a quid or so. I often tip in busy bars, as it means you get served quicker next time, but will usually just give them a quid rather than buy them a drink.

It is strange how we tip some service people but not others.

that is wagamama's policy though innit?

still agree about tipping for the sake of it. especially taxi drivers. tend to always give a restuarant 10% though, as long as it's decent.

would never ever tip in a bar like.

always tip hairdresser as would feel bad as is more of personal service.

yeah, if a resturant has been good, i'll give 10% (thats whats expected!)

Delivery chaps, normally gets rounded up but no more than a quid extra.

Taxi's - local ones will get a quid or so. IF it's a chuffing black cab - THEY GET FUCK ALL as they're taking my eyes out as it is.

Hairdressers will get a quid too, or rounded up (1 local has his prices at 5.10 - wtf??)

As for lucky-lucky men - they get FUCK ALL - but i take nothing off them - i HATE finding them in there when i'm just trying to have a piss then you're expected to give them money?!? fuck that
