does anyone know the full extent of the ban?

just overheard someone here at work that us dirty smokers have to get off the company property (including the car park!!!) to smoke after July 1st!

Im still trying to get my head round how this will work in clubs etc

I guess that is up to the company, rather than anything to do with the smoking ban per se.

You won't be able to smoke, end of.

I was in Dublin last month, a lot of the pubs beer gardens have been turned into smoking areas.

Sure does make you feel like a leper when you have to leave a table full of non-smokers to go for a fag..

this has got to affect the smaller venues

everyone bailing out the club every 5 mins to go for a tab

some sort of wristband may sort it tho - its gonna piss the bouncers off no end

Which Council?

Each company will probably draw up a smokefree policy.

You won't be allowed to smoke in work vehicles though.

My sisters boyfriend went up to the Sub Club in glasgow last weekend (where you cant smoke)

I know Sunderland are drawing up a policy. You might not even be allowed to smoke in your work uniform (if you wear one).

My view? Hahahahahaha.

think of that plus the stench of piss when you think about going to your local social/working mens club past July 1st

North Tyneside Council

was in edinburgh for my mates stag do at end of march. wasnt that bad actually. theres crowds of people outside every pub like. creates a new community really as u talk to people u wouldnt normally inside the place. didnt bother me that much.

still think it'll be hard to police in nightclubs without outdoor areas like. can u imagine the crush on the digital balcony!!!!!

It will be very hard to Police, Especially for Liscensee's and Door Supervisors.

Will have to wait and see how it affects everyone.

drop the ban mid summer - its the winter that it will really kick in

No it won't, it'll be no harder to police than any current no smoking places.

I agree, it won't be difficult at all, it's a statutory ban and it comes with a social conscience.
